How Can You Double Dip Without Getting Caught?

Dont do it. If you get caught you will probably lose both jobs. The company that finds out will find a way of telling the other one. Then you lose everything getting fired. Most states do not pay unemployment to those who get fired for such reasons. If you have a family or want a future think about that first.

Give notice the day you start with the new company. You will get paid for 2 weeks and accrued vacation. This is fine as you could tell your new employer you had to assure medical coverage, bonus, and/or auto, if they even find out, which is doubtful. You will walk away with an extra 5 grand. Good luck

I would also tell the new company what your potential severance we be although you might not get it all you might get an extra's week vacation or maybe a sign on bonus.

Very little chance of problems. I was downsized last time, Got another job within a couple weeks. I explained to my new hiring manager that I was downsized and essentially on the Novartis payroll until February but ready to work. They had no problem and used my 2 months salary as a "hiring bonus" so I could be paid but would not interfere with my Novartis status. This gave me an extra $20,000 during the 2 months while I was waiting for all to finish up, I was able to start my new position, and I never had a moments regret or problem. If an organization wants you they will pay to get you!

This person is talking 2 months though,,,,,1 month before we even find out who goes.
I doubt in todays climate of jobs that any company is going to give a signing bonus the amount of severance esp since this person is supposed to start Mar 1 which is less than 1 month away

With the number of mergers in this industry, what are you going to do when Novartis and your new company merge and you have a two year overlap in your employment history? It would be a real PIA to do 5 or 6 years with your new company and then get fired. Honesty is always the best policy.

I saw a girl get pulled out of training because the company followed up on her termination date with the prior company. She thought it was a good idea too. Good luck with all that!

The pharma co I now work for checked on everything! You can call the Novartis main number and get connected to a line to verify emploent. From there you can get info on how to log into an acct and see exactly what NVS reports. It's a ton of info that Any hr can get. Even my previous co reported every single dang paycheck ever received!
I wouldn't lie.

They will not tell another company how much money you make I know that for a fact

How about this scenario. A company gave me a verbal I signed nothing. They want me to start Mid March, I was thinking if I tell the new company I have to give my two weeks notice this brings me to HELLO April 1st. Start working double dip and then bank severance. Any thoughts.

If you get a job offer be grateful for it so don't be willing to gamble just for your severance. Novartis can put you in another position by a certain date then you wo't have severance anyway.
