Honest feedback please...is this a good company to work for?

I have a question for you. Why haven't you hired a life coach, psychiatrist and started taking an antidepressant before getting on this board??? If your attempting to interview for a job in CNS it would seem counter intuitive to be in such a hurry to get back to work while handling such an awful experience, much less broadcasting on CP. If your a sheep in wolves clothing I feel compassion for your dishonesty and pathetic post. On the other hand, if your being honest then please refer to the beginning of my response. Either way your in the wolves den, people do not sugar coat anything on this website. I'm actively interviewing now with same company and i can tell you without a doubt if I just lost my husband less than a year ago I wouldn't be signing up for this position. There are too many PCP's jobs out there for you not to ignore....
Keep it real!!
All these references to wolves is scary! Please stop!

Why would someone put energy into being such an ass... GTFU this is a prime example of the entitled assholes our country is turning into. The lady doesn’t need a lecture she just asked a question. Sorry this struck a nerve Bc I’m so tired of all the ignorant pple nowadays. Treat unto others... anyone remember that. Wtf

OMG, I totally agree with the post above!

The idiot above calling out the so called woman for asking about the culture here needs a check up from the neck up. Who cares whether she is who she claims to be on this anonymous chat site as we all are really. The person was simply asking about the culture here as I am as well. I currently work in a total SHIT SHOw environment with another pharma company and I'm doubtful after reading other posts on here that you folks here at Alkermes have a culture as bad as I am experiencing. Try being positive working for a pharma co with a horrible drug launch and at the brink of an upcoming layoff and tell me you have it that bad here at Alkermes. There is no perfect pharma job out here and we all know it. Management comes and goes so that is unrealistic to think of anymore when looking at pharma sales jobs. Saying the person should select a primary care sales position over psychiatry is hilarious. Who in the hell in their right mind would suggest such a stupid thing as PC is a miserable sales job anymore? Most PC docs are total assholes and office staffs are just as bad. Miserable in their positions with so many government cuts and are negative / resistant to most things we try to share to help them help their patients. And if you actually try to have a professional sales call with them, they / their nurse are complaining behind your back that your too aggressive / pushy. NO THANKS and not a good recommendation.

I'm sure Alkermes has it 's own set of issues that many of you do not like and I totally respect that honestly. All anyone interviewing wants is meaningful adult like feedback as making a career change is never easy. For those of you willing to be above the line, anything you can share to myself and others currently interviewing with your company is most appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!

You know that no one is actually going to read this, right ?

You know that no one is actually going to read this, right ?

Actually I just read it. And if I had to guess that poster and I likely work for the same company. So yes, people will read it. Because as bad as you think your culture is here, there are a lot of us out there looking for meaningful information because we’re interviewing with other companies and trying to decide our next career moves for multiple of reasons, one of which is a pending layoff. So stop being a douche bag and just be a decent person and answer honestly without demeaning people. Do I make career decision based off of CP? No. But it is PART of the research I do when I’m interviewing or considerign a change because it’s an opportunity to get some inside information that you can’t really get through other company research. That’s all people are looking for. I don’t know why it still amazes me, by it does amaze me how horrible people act on these CP boards to each other. Juvenile.

Great posts here from the last two ppl. May I ask what co(s) you all work for with a bad drug launch and pending layoff(s)?

Very sorry to hear that as we have all been there at one point or another if a tenured pharma Rep. Also agree ans understand why your both asking questions and frustrated by some idiot reps on our co board being childish and rude. Best of luck and hope Alkermes is your next home if that’s what you desire. Life here is not bad. Like most pharma co’s, we have our ups and downs too.

Well said

if you have been around the industry for a bit and worked for multiple companies you will know that Nirvana does not exist. No companies are perfect just as none of us are. Sometimes companies have great products and horrible cultures. Others have ok me too products and great cultures. Others are in the middle. And some just plain suck on all levels. And finally, I have been with companies where it starts out great but changes over time. So once again. Nirvana does not exist. Having worked for ALKs I’d say there are some great people who work there and a couple of current solid respectable products to sell. Pipeline may or
May not materialize and last weeks FDA Ad Com was not pretty but won’t put AlKS out of business. A little embarrassing and perhaps a bit of a black eye? For sure. But still a company worth considering. Good
Luck!

Right on there above poster! There is no perfect pharma co out there and even if it was for a time, senior management changes constantly in all of them and we have all seen great companies taken down by the worst people. I have made some great life long friends over the years in the this industry; have helped and been helped by many to get pharma jobs after layoffs. We are a very professional industry of fine salespeople overall and I would like to think Alkermes is no different. I would very much like to get on here as a TBM, but it sounds like my market area has been put on hold for the time being. Best of luck to everyone both currently interviewing here as well as the many awesome Alkermes reps carrying the bag daily.

Ring totally honest, this could be one of the slowest and unprofessional companies to work for. They are stuck in 2004 and all of the people that have worked there for 20 plus years want things to stay the same. The technology is outdated, the research equipment is starting to get outdated. This company does not have an employee website yet, except one that looks like Craigslist. I would stay away, far away. Plus we just basically got the Hell No from an ad board on the product that was supposed to save the company. I hope our stock price goes up a little before we are sold.

My husband died last Nov and I have found myself needing to enter the workforce again. I'm looking at a few jobs and have been asked to interview with the manager at Alkermes. Is this a good company to work for? Do they treat their employees well? I would appreciate any good or bad info. I can't make a bad move this time and Ive heard mixed news about the new medication for major depressive disorder. Thanks in advance.

Used to be the best. Now it’s just a job.
