Hem/Onc position in LA

Ooo. Why not? MW didn't have one either.

I spoke to Marc, why he didn't have a retirement party. He said having a retirement party was kind of useless - and it wasn't like him to do that. Most of the folks he'd like to have live too far away to attend - or were no longer working at Novartis.

I asked him why he didn't announce it at the H1 and he said his mind wasn't made up to go earlier - he was thinking latter in the year, but a variety of occurrences took place that retiring latter didn't matter.

His in-laws, and mother are in their 90s and needing more attention. I think his mother has been in the hospital recently with heart problems. There didn't seem to be any reason to hang on to this job - it was becoming less pleasant, more tedious and with the recent lay-offs announced he thought somebody else might benefit.

I asked him about his new boss. Marc said she is a non-factor. He worked with her for 3 hours last August. Aside from a pocket meeting he hadn't seen her since. (I wish my boss would only work with me once a year!). Said his team partners were the best anyone could have or want. (I can't say that)

Marc set himself up to retire early - started a business that his wife manages and she makes way more than him - so why bother with this job?

The guy had a long history with Novartis and a shadowy past. If you were in trouble - he'd be your partner - he didn't care what Management thought. I'll miss him at meetings - never understood his thinking, he was different, laid back kind of guy.

Thats why he didn't have a retirement party. That's why he retired. That's why there is a Hem 3 - position in Louisiana.

Hey Marc you will be missed! Remember the old times and not the here and now! Enjoy the rest of the best of your life..... no more Novartis worries and hassels! There are lots of us that are jealous, but so very happy for you! A friend from California :)

I spoke to Marc, why he didn't have a retirement party......

I know who posted this one - and ya didn't tell me you did it "Bob" <-not his real name. Thanks CJ - you're the best! - for giving me a heads up on this.

"Bob" is pretty correct - some family issues to deal with. In-laws are in their 90s and my Mom is 92 as well. Just back from the ranch in New Mexico - she lives up there alone, by herself and will shoot anybody that tries to take her away. It gets cold up on the mountain and I worry about her. She just had a pace maker put in and acts like the Energizer Bunny now. Good for a few more years she says.

Life's been good to me. Enjoyed my job at Novartis, but times they're a changing and I can do other things that'll keep me interested. One thing I can say about taking off so far....when you retire, Fridays loose their meaning and Mondays are like any other day. You don't have any excuse to put the "Honey-Do" list aside to relax on Saturdays and you can't put 'em off on Sundays because you got work on Monday...what I'm trying to say is I might have to go back to work just to get some time off !

Just kidding.

I love retirement - wife likes her job (Should - she owns the company) and wants to keep working another 5 or so years...maybe. Right now - I'm catching up on all the little things I put off for Saturdays, but never did manage to accomplish on Sundays. I'm excited about the future - it looks good to me. I look forward to jumping into something else a little further down the road.

The territory I left is a good one. My partners were outstanding to work with. I can't say anything about the current manager JW because I only worked with her for 3 hours in a 6 month period. So if you like that idea - she might be a perfect manager for you.

I have no idea if they've filled the position or not. It's an extremely easy territory to work and it's a very productive one. Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Metairie, Houma, Thibodaux, Alexandria, Mandeville, Covington. Hope whoever takes the position does well they should...sales were good, blah blah , blah.

Enough. I'm gonna take a nap. Love, Peace and Happiness....and remember what the door mouse said....
