Has Anyone Heard of AFFINIS?

Affinis (a compounding pharmacy) is heavily recruiting independent contractors for their sales team. Problem is, I can't find anything of substance on the web about them. Their sales agreement and business model looks a little funky and I'm hesitant to sign it without knowing more. Can anyone help?

I was looking at them too. I found another company/compounding pharmacy that is doing the same thing and I am trying to determine which one would be the best one to go with. What general area are you located? I'm not 100% sure either of them can do anything that a local compounding pharmacy can't but then those guys are not willing to pay us anything to get them business. You can email me at tigerntn@hotmail.com and we can discuss.

I listened to the teleconf. last night. The CEO left many unanswered questions about the business model. I live in an area with several compounding pharmacies that can likely compound the same meds as Affinis. There is another conf. tonight that hopefully will provide more detail.

I'd love to hear your opinion after Thursday's conference call. Its always good to get another persons view on something like this. They need to learn to introduce themselves so people will know who is talking and what their job is with Affinis. Did you pick up on the fact that Dr. Micek is the physician who developed OrthowayMD? I can see why he would support this since he has a financial stake in its success. Nothing wrong in that, espically if its helps. I would do the same thing.
My impression is that this is a good opportunity but you have to consider that these people have never run a big sales force before or tried to train people like this without the resources to bring people in for training. I think they are going to grow and I would like to grow with them. I don't know all the advantages of the medications being put in their creams or studies to prove the real benefits. Zero co-pay for private insurance is a real plus but I don't know if local pharmacies would typically do that or not.

Have heard about them from a friend, as well and would like to try to listen in to one of the teleconferences. I had several questions after looking into them on the internet--where there is not much information : (1) how do they differ from local compounding pharmacies. I use at least one in our town and know that they do not waive private insurance co-pays, but the one in our town has also been here 20 + years and has a very good reputation (2) the backgrounds of the individuals who seem to be involved in a decision-making capacity in Affinis seem to have nothing very little background in pharma. Having just come from big pharma that could be a big plus, but I am concerned that their seems to be a lot of investment and real-estate developer background on one of the principals --and the rest didn't seem too impressive for understanding the pharmaceutical marketplace. The FDA and pharma can be pretty complex-like it or not. Seems as if they are trying to launch the company, get a foothold, make some money and then refine things from there? I just can't get my arms around it. (3) ALSO--and this is a big one for me. When I looked at the pharmacy that is doing the actual compounding (at least according to one of their presecription pads that I got a hold of ) the only information on the internet about it says that it has been in business since 2011. The background of the pharmacist sounds OK and he has the right credentials, I just want to know more about the actually pharmacy that is fulfilling Affinis orders--especially if they suddenly need to fill a lot. How are they going to address sudden increases in demand vs capacity? It sounds like an optimistic bunch of young guys and I am OK with that, but I have a really good reputation among my old customers and don't want to screw that up if this is not a well thought out business model which in my mind also includes product delivery and quality. I have been through product shortages before and that is one great way to piss off a doc. Anyone got any other info or thoughts? Would love to hear them.

I am also looking into the company. Just wondering where you found out who the principal players in the company are. On their website, I can't even get into that info., as it says you need a password to get it. I have looked elsewhere on the web with little success. Any help would be appreciated. I can't get my head around this opportunity either just yet.

Daniel Warner who is Recruiter and Director of Bs Development @ Affinis is on LinkedIn. Interesting, someone by the name of Francesca Micek is also on LinkedIn as a Regional VP of Sales at Affinis in Atlanta. Micek is not her maiden name and she is also linked to OrthoWayMD. Probably Dr Micek's wife ???? There was some link to Affinis business cards buried way down in a google search that I did that listed another officer, but I could not find it tonight. I was on the teleconference yesterday which was supposed to be one of the training teleconferences. The product line sounded pretty good, but they are definitely in a start up mode. It was interesting to read the employment contract. In section 8 ( I think ) there is all sorts of mention of metrics, quarterly reporting etc, so if they are not looking at that now, they may be in the future. I think the name of the game right now is to put as much incentive out there as possible so they can build the name. I will say that the guys on the teleconference all sounded quite sincere--unlike some other big pharma conferences that I have been on in the past. Still thinking about whether this represents a good oppty or not--but with the job market what it is, what do you have to lose, unless you have another solid offer on the table.

Dr. Micek is the physician that is normally on the conference calls they have on Tuesday & Thursday nights. He founded OrthowayMD which makes the joint support tablets that Affinis offers. One thing good about this group is that they do seem sincere about listening to the reps. I want more info about how they are different than the local pharmacies and how their products would compare to any other big pharma product currently on the market. The biggest issue or draw back is also its advantage, the delivery method. People like to take pills not creams or patches or anything else but a pill. I sold Advair and it was a million times better than singular but doctors would complain about people liking the pils.

I agree about their sincerity. I was on one of the calls and I liked the people and what they had to say. Was kind of excited about all of the possibilities actually. I also agree that we are a pill-popping society and people have a mental hang-up about the power of a pill. However, that becomes an issue where the physician needs to sell the patient. If he/she is convinced that this is a good way to go, that should be 1/2 the battle. I have a couple of friends whose sons are now dealing with addictions to OXY after being treated for multiple sports injuries in HS and College. The ability to get someone off of the hydrocodone quickly should be a big plus. I did a bit more digging and found out that the CEO is a guy named Craig Van Breene. Both he and Dan Warner appear to have been involved in a lot of different businesses in CA and GA. You can do a google search on Van Breene--but again there is very little info on him. I'm sure that the company is privately held but I have worked for those types before as well and sometimes it is nice not to have to make decisions based on what the stock market wants you to do. Am still considering applying. You?

I have the same questions and have the same concerns. I have a contract on my desk from one of their competitors. The terms are pretty straight forward but I think that Affinis pays better per script if I understood the call correctly from last night. Interesting how more of these companies are going the independent/direct sales route. But unless I can find something of substance on Affinis I can't take them seriously. Why the secrecy? At least the company I'm dealing with is straight-forward. I can talk to the distributor and the area broker directly. Anyone else find anything? All I'm finding is people with the same questions as myself. I did try to connect with Daniel W. on linkedin. We'll see if he responds. I'm at crowhop85@gmail.com if you have additional info.

If you're looking for a JOB, stop looking at Affinis. The Affinis opportunity is NOT for the traditional pharmaceutical rep. Affinis is a start up company that is looking for real sales professionals with pharmaceutical experience and existing physician relationships. You will not be paid to drive around and "collect signatures." You will only be paid when the patient fills the prescription.

The question should be how much have I been paid for all my efforts? Try $50.00! Funny. An entrepreneur making nothing, squat!. Why not instead of attacking me, try answering the statement. You can't because it is true! Dan Warner is stealing us blind. This is a venture which won't take off until the Representative is paid for his/her effort. You say you have heard as many as 130 on the conference call? So have I. Four months ago. But as people realize the ponzi scheme, they are dropping off like flies. So, Mark stop attempting to come across as a rep and pay us for our effort!

You won't be paid at all, Period!

How long have you been disgruntled? You either are or are not an entreprenuer. If the opportunity is not for you, its not for you. There is no such thing as "Mandatory" for a 1099 Independent Contractor, and I've personally heard as many as 130 on a call. BTW, how long have you been unemployed?

I was also "hired" by Affinis some months ago and was "Gun-Ho" about the program. Unfortunately my association with the organization has basically put me in a difficult stand with the wife who tells me that what I am trying to do is "Pie in the Sky". I have spent thousands for working capitol which came from our savings. Months in the field and I still don't know the sales I have accomplished. According to Affinis, I haven't been very successful. How much have I made? Glad you asked. As of today I have been compensated $0 dollars. Listening to Mr Warner sounds real convincing. It's like listening to a "snake oil" salesman. Like a attorney cousin of mine told me recently, "Buyer Beware"! I share the same message.

"You will only be paid when the patient fills the scrip" Sounds simple. But how does the rep know when its been filled? He/she doesn't. Thus because we don't know, your not informed and that is why reps, managers, recruiters get stolen blind by the likes of Dan warner, Creig Van Breene and others. I would love a rebuttal. I have much more information to provide!

Now that another month has come and gone let see who is going to be paid and if "on time"! I will let you know what happens.

Really, how long ago did you send the email. There is no great secret about that. Who did you sned the email to?

I have sent over a dozen e-mails to Dan and Craig. Put in over a dozen phone calls to these "Gentleman". No response! I am starting to fear what my gut has been telling me all along; We have been scamed!
