Hand Raisers.....

I raised my hand last week and was given a significant bridge with complete benefits. My age is fifty four and I was contacted by my manager to raise my hand very grateful and happy. Great to have had a career with Merck!

Congratulations. Hoping for the same thing, but I'm in Primary Care. Hoping for hand raising opportunity in 2017.

Former Merckette here, married at 28, had 1st child at 34 (my choice) and 2nd at 39.5 (again, my choice). So, I had a 10 yr old at home when I was 50. Not all that unusual.

FYI regarding the medical plan : Mother Merck asked me to retire at 64, I paid a bundle for medical until I hit 65, then it dropped nicely to $230 - $280/mo for spouse and I. Suddenly this year, it jumped to 212/mo per person, plus 22/mo for Part D, plus $400 deductible for the drugs each. We do get a contribution from Mother to help pay for all this. But we will pay a lot more this year than last year. And, I AM SURE, that the "contribution" from Mother will decrease every year moving forward. (FYI I am now 69; and continue to read this site for entertainment and information, having spent 25 years in the industry, not all here at Merck).

Totally appreciate your story. Similar situation and observations here as well. Trends in health care coverage and out of pocket is a definite concern. And yes, this site is definitely entertaining.
