Guess our annual insurance premiums haven't been reduced $2500 like Obama promised

Nice to see we'll no longer have physician co-pays without a deductible requirement in 2013. Thanks Obama? Nice to see we'll have to satisfy an increased deductible before any co-insurance will apply. Thanks Obama? Nice to see the 10% co-insurance gone and we'll get to pay 20% out of pocket. Thanks President Barack Obama? And nice to see maximum out-of-pocket expenses are increased, too. Thanks Obama. Most honest president ever. Always transparent. Always truthful. I'm sure my health premium must have gone down by $2500 or else Merck would not have been able increase my participation on every level. Thanks o great Obama.

"My fellow Americans....let me be clear....you just got screwed."

Welcome to socialized medicine.

My friend was so happy that all her "illegal" buddies will be getting "free" insurance. I said my premium and out-of-pocket expenses are going up to subsidize yours.

this was happening before the ACA...ask anyone you know that works for a Fortune 500 company. Merck has made the decision to save $$$$ like many other companies

Don't be dense. Merck, and all companies have been shifting more healthcare cost to workers for years. Do you really think that a company that is about to shave off 20% of it's sales force is not going to lower it's healthcare cost? Luckily for you, when you get downsized, you can go on the exchanges and get healthcare.

If you actually work for Merck, you should stay awake during the managed care t/c's and updates. The insurance companies run the show and Merck is just going along with them like every oher major employer group. Makes not one lick of difference whether it is a republican or democratic government in place.

You bunch of morons. Yeah right, the President (current) is behind all of the woes of the world. He destroyed Merck. He is the sole reason people in this country live "food insecure". He caused the great recession. Maybe Hurricane Sandy. Your children are also stupid because of him. Go away.

Let's hope the government shut down stops this Obama crap. The entitlement crowd is just getting bigger and happier on the back of the working class. Vote out the bums.

Every business, government, and individual is eventually forced to deal with the realities of a changing world. ACA isn't perfect but it deals with the reality of outrageous healthcare costs, retirement of baby boomers, and millions of Americans that can't get health insurance. It's not the best law but it's the best we can have when republicans refuse to see the world is and has changed. Adapt to survive.

Another forum blaming the company's situation on a Obama. Medical insurance, no matter the policy, does not cover the procedure of removing you head out of your ass. I understand it is elective surgery that even those that can afford it rarely pay for. I think your health care costs should go up given this a self-inflicted malady.

Re: Guess our annual insurance premiums haven't been reduced $2500 like Obama promise

Let me be clear! The more you make, the more we take! That is why out of pocket maximums are on a sliding scale. This is just the beginning. Next year we will have a sliding scale on deductibles too. We plan on taxing the hell out of your benefits and you're once Cadillac plan will be more like a broke down moped. My Unaffordable Healthcare, excuse me, I mean Affordable Healthcare Act will help transform this once great nation into a socialist society. We have been seeing leaders at some large corporations like Merck who have embraced our vision. Beat down the successful until everyone is on the same playing field. All reps, regardless of past performance and positions should all be equal. Ken shared with me that he is looking to do away with S1 S2 and S3 titles. He wants all reps to have the title CSO. I'm Barry Hussein and I approve this message

Merck has always had been self insured for Medical ( they have fund set aside with millions) they pay Aetna etc to admin the program....no connection with Health care Act...just cutting cost and screwing who is left & retirees

Well said bro. Love watching the Obama-haters piss all over themselves and soil their man-diapers. Waaaaah, I'm an angry white man and my President is not the same color as me. Waaaah, I'm gonna go on the Merck forum and tell everyone how Obama personally ruined my life. Because Merck was so well-run and honest until the day Obama got elected. Waaaah.

Re: Guess our annual insurance premiums haven't been reduced $2500 like Obama promise

The idea of Obamacare is quite admirable but it misses the point entirely. Insurance companies have pulled the bait and switch to make it look like things are great. Start reading the mainstream media. Now that the plans are able to be reviewed online you can see that small premiums = HIGH deductibles and/or out of pocket costs.

So, in addition to making your $200/mo premium payment be ready to shell out $1,000 plus (deductible) before your plan you're paying the $200/mo starts paying a dime. Does anyone really think that's AFFORDABLE?

Meanwhile, healthcare costs go unchecked with doctors and hospitals charging a HUGE range of fees for the same services. The right area to reform that would make insurance more affordable for EVERYONE is at the fee end of the equation, not the insurance end. If the costs were constant and fixed universally, insurance costs would plummet because the only uncertainty would be how sick or well their subscribers were.

Why do we always hear that Social Security will run out of money in the near future, but we never hear that Welfare will run out of money?

Because they love to threaten people who work for a living - we actually care. Not to mention the hope that it will drive more of us to invest in the stock market or save since, you know, we make money.

No way to scare people who just hang out and collect tax payer money. They know tax payers will always exist to subsidize them (unless they're from Detroit). Great question though!
