GSK setting up Syneos reps to be fired

Sorry, but will not do that because then many Syneos rep will be identified that may not want to be identified. Trust me it happened to me and I honestly should have never ever been fired. Was not even worth a warning letter.

I am one of the Syneos embedded reps who was terminated last Friday. I was not at GSK Reg Goal for MS since I started so that is legit. However over 45% of the territories in the region aren't either. A GSK rep in my district on another sales team was laid off (Package) this week as well. GSK DM's started writing horrible field contact reps on reps to justify why sales numbers were low: if you don't meet/exceed Reg Sals goal you must suck as a rep. GSK also had other DM's ride with their reps to document poor performance. GSK is about to do a major reorg for a variety of reasons. The generic launch of Advair, failure to secure Peds indication for Nucala, poor sales in the US, etc.

I have over 25 years in Pharma and have been through this multiple times. However as a contract rep its been very rough. Yes there are situations were embedded reps are being let go and other GSK reps are being shuffled to keep a job; others are being let go. My GSK DSM is probably going back into a Field Sales job - LMAO!! Time to demonstrate all that BOLD CHALLENGING talk you held me to! If you are a Syneos Asthma (former Advair team) rep you may have months to go before they let you go. Generic Advair will dramatically impact what PBM's allow and that could quickly kill Breo sales unless GSK plans to pay commercial insurance plans $360/month so pats can use $10 copay cards. Don't think that's profitable. So my sage advice is do your job now, start looking at other opportunities, network, etc. Best of luck

For sure - the legacy GSK folks are working to protect their asses. I took an embedded resp job a few months ago, and one of the reps spends more time looking at my call activity than calling on customers. In my area, there are three reps doing what one could easily do. Without the drama. There is also a HUGE admin burden between Syneos and GSK, fucking million acronyms and reports that are a waste of time. Good products, crappy companies.

Remember, the only reason GSK handed Breo over to a contract company was because they knew it would sink like the Titanic once Advair went generic. Both groups have just gotten lucky that it has taken as long as it has for Advair LOE.
The issue here is that GSK also has to make cuts among their own resp reps and those people know it and will do anything to save their ridiculous salaries. Hopefully GSK management is smart enough to see through this, but apparently they’re not.

Don’t trust GSK, they are users and abusers that keep things nice enough where you stay while putting up with nonsense. GSK has a way of getting rid of people when they want and making others look great when they need to.

If you think something is happening it probably is, talk to each other and document things. GSK has been in soooo many lawsuits, even if you’re contract don’t hesitate to start collecting GSK dirt that they do to you.

Look for roles and be safe y’all.

True....

I am a former GSK employee, the above post is spot on!

Syneos is a CYA for GSK. When partnering with them it’s a weird and using relationship.

When it was the Advair contract, it was a group meant to hold share and for GSK to blame for access issues?

When it was sales excellence coaching, it was for CIA pleasing and silent lay-off prep puppetry.

When it was Breo, it was to save the sinking ship and have an option if ish hit the fan.

GSK uses and abuses everyone because leadership is often clueless and lays out poor plans to justify their positions.

Syneos reps are getting fired across the country for small stupid reasons. Watch your back GSK people are trying to set you up to protect their jobs.

I am confused as to how GSK getting Syneos reps fired would help protect their jobs? Even if they got every single Syneos rep fired, they would just get replaced with new Syneos reps. Where is the logic in this? Is the thinking that- if every Syneos rep is eliminated then GSK reps will stay forever? GSK is going to do what they are going to do regardless, whether it's end the contract or keep both Syneos and GSK or keep just GSK reps.

One take a step back, GSK typically has strategic moves that move forward some halfassed plan of the month. Typically most just sat contract is up or it’s ending in X amount of weeks. GSK MIGHT be trying an angle to make Syneos fall guys to protect themselves. Whether this makes sense or not, if someone wants it done it’ll get done.

I cannot say whether this is true, but often times if you think something is happening then it probably is. This industry can sit still whenever it wants and make issues up in the same way.

Congratulations, you just said absolutely nothing.

Embedded reps are managed by GSK managers. They do the field visits and actively manage people out, to save their GSK reps. It’s true and has happened across the country, on the embedded side. If a territory has 3 GSK reps and 2 embedded Syneos reps, the Syneos reps will be targeted.

Not sure how many embedded reps GSK uses across the country but I was just hired a few months ago to support Trelegy and wasn't welcomed with open arms! My GSK counterparts keep commenting that they don't need another rep in their territory. I feel like I've already been set up to fail. Big mistake on my part by joining this contract. Anybody else in a similar situation?

I had a similar situation when I was embedded. It wasnt every rep that made it clear they didnt need me, just a couple. They were very tenured and had been in their geography close to 20 years. The biggest problem is that over the years access has gotten more difficult. When you have multiple people promoting the same thing many offices get overwhelmed with the number or reps so someone gets shut out. Good luck to you and if its like when I was embedded you wont have enough samples anyway so going to all those offices wont be an issue.
