GSK driven PIP's to reps

Perhaps GSK/Syneos are "legally right but morally wrong". Has anyone had any feedback from a attorney to see if fighting this is worth pursuing? Something about this just doesn't seem to make sense!!

Legally and ethically wrong, is what they are. Talk with an employment attorney if you have a question of what's happening to you. Consultations are typically no charge.

Its not legal and it's unethical. If you have a concern, contact an employment lawyer or morgan and morgan, at least initial consultation is free. The more that this is reported the better for all of us to be protected.

At-will employment, dumb asses. Are you all this dense? You're not real reps, because you all are useless idiots.

I have talked personally with two Syneos respiratory reps that were managed out by thier GSK FLL who is the reporting manager. Syneos leadership and Syneos HR department essentially approved GSK's action (they did nothing to help the Syneos rep - looked the other way!) Syneos will do anything to please the unpleasable GSK toxic organization and keep the contract. By the way, both of these reps were doing thier job and were good professionals. GSK has a "turf war" going on here and they are preserving district manager and sales rep jobs (for now!) by throwing Syneos people under the bus!!

... so professional and above everyone else I see. It's the same whether you are direct to a Pharma Company or indirect via a Contract. It depends on the state likely. Regardless of that, it depends on the individual circumstances. Grow up!

... couldn't get a real rep job, but now you're a lawyer. GFY.

I heard GSK has driven another round of these performance improvement plan layoffs. Unethical YES, illegal, that remains to be seen. I certainly hope someone challenges this toxic plan that GSK is launching toward Syneos representatives and Syneos leadership (or lack thereof) is allowing to happen to really good employees. Please share stories if this is happening to you or should you be aware of a coworker going through this process!

This entire thread is bullshit, if you suck... you’ll be managed out (of any sales job), that’s how it works, there is no “silent lay off” going on, and Syneos reps aren’t being “targeted”-that’s silly.
There’s a realignment coming in a few months, (that’s why they are doing the pilot... to see how they can reduce the number of reps and managers both direct hire and contract).

the o.p. is waaay off, pathetic...

If this is NOT a "silent layoff" can you explain why most territories across the country are not being backfilled after the representative is managed out or they leave for a better position. From conversations I have had with several Syneos reps, this is more that just getting rid of a bad rep here or there - this is a trend! Open your eyes - GSK is totally toxic!

Any Syneos reps being placed on a coaching letter/PIP driven by their GSK manager? I have heard from 3 different coworkers this is happening across the country. Typical situation, GSK manager forces Syneos to issue this 30 day plan. Tends to be 1 Syneos rep per district - a "silent layoff". Terrible actions by GSK. Please share any stories!

so what?
if you lose your job, you lose a terrible situation with much stress.
the correct action here is to play the game, and do as little as possible. don't even try to sell when you are not with your manager. just sample check.
if they want to play this crap with reps, then give it back to them much worse.
its the law of the jungle.
and yes, I am correct.

Obviously the same rep is writing a lot of these posts. He/She does not know how to spell THEIR. I am not the spelling police, but really it's such a simple word.

Well, this is a little off-topic, but since it's the only recent GSK thread...

What's the likelihood of this contract ending sooner rather than later? Can't imagine the whole thing ending, but could be big changes with consolidation... Giving Anoro to an inside sales force or just add it to the bag of Trelegy reps? Spread GSK reps out and lose a lot of Syneos (or vice versa)?

Seems like there's a lot of speculation on the GSK side and it's no secret there WILL be changes, but what those will look like and when is anyone's guess. I previously thought end of this year. Now I'm thinking end of June/S1. Just curious what the thoughts are here or what others have heard.

GSK former rep here. GSK is notorious for “silent layoffs”...I left a few years back but watched as many very good reps who had higher salaries because of their tenure were put on ridiculous PIPS and managed out the year before layoffs. The package they were offered by being “managed out” was less than what they would have received at the layoff. Don’t tell me GSK isn’t doing this to both GSK and Syneos alike. They are planning a layoff in the next year and are cutting costs. Horrible company. Know of a few managers who would not play the PIP game and get rid of good reps and they were “managed out” as well.

Thanks to the former GSK rep for adding what you saw during your time at GSK. I have hated hearing the stories from Syneos coworkers that have been treated unfairly by this toxic company. What adds insult to injury is the fact that Syneos does nothing to stand behind reps that have done a good job on multiple contracts. Does anyone know if any rep has successfully brought legal action against the company for what is happening??

This is likely someone in leadership here attempting classic damage control. Most know your tactic and are on to your unethical management style. Consult with a management training program and you will learn how to motivate and retain. Though, that probably isn’t your goal. Good luck. What goes around, comes around. People are getting pushed out who were very good performers. One of us could be next.

There has been in the past GSK damage control people patrolling these boards....I think it feel off last few years or so, but occasionally something like this pops up.

GSK and Syneos has created a toxic partnership going back years. A culture of mixed signals and backstabbing has been standard operating procedure for quite some time.
