GSK 2019 is a mess

Somebody better tell our Jack B that we have a national sales meeting in July. Save that money for more severance packages..turn out the lights..not quite yet. Maybe in 2025 but not yet.

Anyone else hearing rumors that this mid-July national meeting is being conducted because of a reorganization/restructuring in June?

Another lay-off is rumored, they keep coming unfortunately. Honestly, the last people that should lose their jobs are the reps. They actually produce something, what does a FLL/SLL/ or even Third Line Leader even produce???????? Put your money where the impact is....Field or those who deal with payers.

You honestly can cut my FLL and SLL, our region would take care of itself just fine. Most likely increase sales without the stupidity.

Listen, stop with the constant sniping about this field vs that field. Make your money how you make it, many of these companies are making millions or billions. The money generated as to be pushed by someone.....

My focus is more on the people who screw culture up rather than what products are sold. No matter what you sell, the culture should be #1 in preserving a growing and respected environment. Everyone should be speaking up and fighting for the best environment.

“Sales is not really medical”? Really hillbilly. Instead of “is” it should be “are”, but your a rep, so school was never your strong suit huh?

Hey grammar teacher, do you know the difference between the possessive pronoun “your” and the contraction “you’re” which means - you are?

Is your statement, “ but your a rep” correct? You used “your” twice in your post and both of them cannot be correct.

Remember, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Two things. Regarding those espousing grammar fundamentals..get a life! This is a blog that allows people to vent their feelings. People are typing a mile per minute. Half the time spell check wrongly autocorrects. So relax! Secondly, there are still too many FLLs with very little to do other than create unnecessary work projects. It's February and I will have two work contacts by the end of March..C'mon man! No other company or industry behaves this way. They talk of a modern company. Why not Skype 1on1 meetings every month. Take an hour and a half to discuss business, planning and a little product discussion ie role play. Then every quarter, manager spends a day in the field with a rep. It's really that simple. Manager span of control could be 15 to 1. Would save the company tens of millions and would create a happier healthier workforce. That's modern. Instead, they continue to manage the same way they did in the 1980s. C'mon Jack B, get with it!

The company is not into saving money. Ole Jack B was singlehandedly responsible for losing the Advair Health Net contract. Cost the company hundreds of millions. That brilliant move got him promoted. This company has a broken moral compass and lack of business ethics. The largest CIA penalty in pharmaceutical history. Which lead to reps, not management, taking exams that were designed to be beyond difficult ( GSKs words) and then not share the test results. WTF? How could any reasonable person think this was a good idea? Emma has tried to do her best by cleaning house. Like most home cleaning, it's not about the obvious mess, it's about getting on the floor and into the cracks. Where the mold lives and causes disease. That's filed management. Both FLLs and SLLs alike. They resist and pass blame on to the sales force. They are the ones who should be sanitized. Questions have been raised on previous threads, how many RSDs have been placed on a performance plan? How many FLLs? Are we to believe that because they are "management" that they are perfect? If that were the case the company wouldn't be in the state it's in currently.

Any of you watch the Academy Awards? There was no host. The media made a big deal about it leading up to the show. At the end of the evening the show was very well done. It was on time and had some light humor. The show came off without a hitch. I correlate this to our management team. If we had fewer managers and fewer meetings what would this mean to the sales force? We have been making the argument that management just gets in the way and causes more unnecessary work. For a rare time in my life I say take the lead from Hollywood. Do away with overpaid unnecessary roles. You will save millions and get the job done more efficiently. Just a little straight talk for a modern company. Signed Spike Lee..Fight The Power!

Pharma field and those associated with it is a complete mess.....

- Ride alongs have become performance theater that are less business focused each year.

- Ratings are a scripted show with calibrations being the writers room script of what’s to come.

-Generic Advair is gonna wreck ish.

- COCO, Patient First, Sales Excellence etc is just another flavor of the month that has no intrinsic value, I’m sure the next ones coming.

- Inventiv- Who knows if they are staying or going?

- Leadership keeps coming up with busy work projects to justify their days. What does one at that level even do? They don’t talk to doctors so they are bored.

- layoffs, too many to count since 2007.

- Reps cannot SPEAk UP, any legitimate idea is refuted if it doesn’t align. They often retaliate if you do anything contrary.

- I often waste thousands of dolllars on lunches to hit my pointless metrics. Some offices are a complete waste, but we are encouraged to waste on them.

How to fix: Be honest about every aspect of the business. Be real in what the current state is and how the job has to be done. Have HONEST AND TRUTHFUL conversations about all work subjects. Stop the lies around ratings, layoffs, and other employment issues. Finally, stop all of the fakery and theater from management. GSK can be a phenomenal place, we should work to make it this way...........Until then 2019 is a mess

That is big pharma. They will talk about meaningful interactions, take away the activity metric, then panic when they go down, and double down on them again. It is a viscous cycle.
