GPA requirement

Trying to get into interview process - have 2 yrs of sales exp in finance.
My question - how strict is their GPA requirement? All descriptions ask for at least a 2.75...

I have a degree in Biochem, but GPA just misses the mark... any serious feedback would be appreciated. Thnx.

If you have 10 or more years of experience since school then your GPA is not a factor. Anyone who says it still is just doesn't want to hire you, I know from experience. I was a bad student but have been a top achiever in every sales position I have ever held. I was hired!

I have a 2.1 (enjoyed too many distractions at school!!) but that was seventeen years ago. Based on a strong oncology sales record I was hired by Lilly and continue to do well and also enjoy my time.

Pharma sales and Lilly both currently suck, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I recommend you either stay in finance or find another industry. I recently made the move to IT sales and am very happy.

It really is a shame that with the difficulty in pulling down good grades for all the lab-attached courses you had to take, and you putting in twice as many hours to get your degree as most applicants with liberal arts degrees, you will not even be given a chance.

Consider yourself lucky, though, to have avoided this pit. Lilly is not worthy of your talents.

Find a company you can be proud to say you work for. Lilly is no longer that company. Lilly is a joke.

Graduated over 10 years ago, they took my transcripts at the panel interview and calculated my gpa to make sure it was above 2.75.....they deffinately take gpa into concideration no matter when you graduated.

If your GPA is just low, Lilly won't hire you.
If your GPA is mediocre, Lilly will hire you.
If your GPA is average or high, you are smart and won't even apply for a job at Lilly.

Lilly makes no exceptions for the GPA requirements. I had a 2.7 and was told I would not move forward.

Lilly will make exceptions if the manager, director both agree & they have over 10 years work experience. Probably those who were declined were fed the corporate lingo. I know of a person I referred that was turned down first time. Then 2nd time both manager & director wanted him, so they pushed Hr on the issue. I believed there was no chance also. Then they pointed out he had over 10 yrs work experience, thus he got the job.

No one is saying they don't take it into consideration. What is being stated is that if you have over 10 yrs work exp but your GPA is too low, then if the hiring manager wants to get an exception and go out on the limb for you, they can/could. Not sure about things now that we are cutting people and have qualified internal applicants that are going to be looking. In fact they will get the position 1st, anyway.

If your GPA is 2.7 with no common sense, then maybe you will fit in fine.
If your GPA is 3.7 with a little common sense, then you will research employee attitudes and find another niche. And, if your GPA is 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0 and you were naturally born with "common sense" you would never consider becoming an employee at Lilly.

And all this is from an employee with 23 years of servce, 29 years experience, and 18 months of b.s. who has decided this is not the company that cares. Run.... run fast!

But you had sales experience. Without a solid track record of pharma sales, you WILL not get hired if your GPA is below the mark.
