Gilead gonna be sold to AstraZeneca

Unless you came from big pharma, you have no idea what micromanagement is! I came from GSK and let me tell you about the way they treated their people...horrible!!! If we are purchased by a big pharma company you can bet that half of us will leave within three years. Your education, industry experience and life experience will be minimized. You will be treated like a misbehaved adolescent. Hope and pray that we remain independent.

Got it. We don't know what micromanaging is, because we didn't come from big pharma. Shut the hell up.

Actually, #21 has a point. Sure, we have all experienced micromanagement to a certain degree. I also come from"big pharma" company. The metrics and unrealistic lead expectations will drive you insane. We have it pretty good here. We do not want to be a part of AZ or anyone else for that matter.

Pursuant to recent conference calls and airing of grievances, I’d say your qualified and almost guaranteed to be hired - you got what we are looking for, welcome aboard!

AZ is known for cutting expense and Gilead sales force should be concerned. This won't be a merger of equal partners. AZ will control everything and Foster City HQ will be closed. Hope our management and shareholders say NO! Wow!!!

AZ is also known for having the biggest sexual harassment of all times in the pharma industry. Check out the past cover article of Business Week titled, "Abuse of Power: The Astonishing Tale of Sexual Harassment at Astra USA", published in May 1996, author - Mark Maremont. That was over 20 years ago and business schools and legal scholars still use this story as an example of seriously bad corporate conduct. One of the worst Astra Executives, George Roadman, also made offensive racially charged comments to young black female sales representatives. One of those ladies claimed that he actually said to her, "Black women are stallions compared to white women, sexually". That type of disgusting behavior is particularly relevant these days and isn't forgotten with the passage of a few decades. To their credit, Astra Sweden fired all the Executive creeps, including the CEO Lars Bildman, after the BW article was published. To their discredit, Astra Sweden was notified of these ongoing scandalous issues beforehand, when they were contacted by the author as he was compiling the article, and did nothing. Gilead really doesn't need more bad PR or any association with AZ and their checkered past.

I hung out with the Astra trainees in Westboro MA at the former Marriott back in the early to mid 90’s, my company was down the street. Needless to say, the hookups were epic with the hot, horny.young rookies and considering the 6-8 weeks the reps were stuck there and couldn’t go home but once or twice. Many a marriage and relationship was decimated because of the infidelity that took place there. “Sarah” as I’ll refer to her divulged that she hated Astra and the head games that senior managers played with the hotties. She said she was going to get some experience there and leverage it for a better gig elsewhere. Pharma of the 90’s was a crazy time.
