Announcements coming next week. I hope it is transformational but knowing this place it will be more of the same. To be honest I don't really give a fuck as I am set with 401k, pension, etc. They take the same old bunch of idiots (with a couple exceptions) all yes men and put them in a room with McKinsey folks and think they will invent the new commercial model. It ain't going to happen. I just hope they offer something on top of the standard package so I can get out with something even better. Best to me and FU
 




Sorry.... but we are a tad bit 'burnt out' with these fake announcements. What happened to 10/9... this isn't going to work anymore. Maybe wait a few more weeks and people might believe your rumors.

We will be sharing more in the weeks and months ahead as we make decisions.We will be more relevant to customers, leaner more agile. ie... restructures or layoffs should not be surprising to anyone not in Vaccines and Oncology and not sure they won't lean down vaccines or oncology? OP here, I told you. Re-listen to the town hall. The words chosen and used were not off the cuff but were carefully prepared and rehearsed. There is meaning within meaning if you know what I mean. Once again there will be significant changes coming including many layoffs in the areas not mentioned and increased headcount in the areas highlighted. I cannot spell it all out for you because I don't have all the answers and insight but know that it is going to get ugly. I am in HQ, have well established connections at various levels within our company, have been through at least a half dozen of these and hope that this is my last. Good luck to all and I hope that you, as I have, have prepared for life after Merck. Can't wait to retire as then I will really share all of my experiences and thoughts. God bless.
 




no need to read between the lines after that town hall. Adam spelled it out. Major cuts coming. Nov 1st the new leaders will take charge and act swiftly. Pure carnage by end of year!

So what is a marketing officer?
 












Unclear what we are doing but biotechs have them. Reps and managers report to a marketing officer/manager who is the overlord. Marketing officers/managers are like a DCO, maybe field DCO's will be gone??

Makes sense as field dco's don't do much, their role easily could be at hq taken over by the marketing officer. The marketing person could fly out to region meetings I suppose.
Does the officer wear a badge? Will they give tickets? Will we be put in jail by this officer if we don't send enough field emails?

Seriously- I think CTL's are a waste of money. All they do are ride alongs to "coach". Waste of time and money. Or they should manage 30 reps and spread it out.

Great point! Years ago we were looking at having an external contract manager do field visits with reps at random in order to evaluate delivery of marketing messages. Role can easily disappear.
