Florida pioneer ecosystem

My HD is a not-so-closet racist who frequently makes off-colored comments about "those" people. Oh, and he had a not-so-secret affair while in the home office.

Everyone deserves a good manager...

Not sure why people are still puzzled by the horrible HDs/HEDs they have. During the pioneer phase, the company went out of its way to make a statement about the kind of management team they wanted. They sent a clear message to all of us by barring the most decent and qualified people managers in the company from even interviewing. They wanted them out so bad that they did not even waste their time on them. If you were awake, you probably should have known what was coming.

Instead, they deliberately chose the snakes, brown-nosers, family and friends. They wanted absolute blind loyalty from these people. Some of these HDs never managed and could not even lead their own dogs. Cleansing the possible dissenters is all a part of the plan. The smarter they were, the quicker they got dumped. So the speak-up culture and diversity talks are just BS. Genentech is no longer interested in being an employee-friendly company since that model was too expensive and did not align with BA's mentality. According to BA, there are no metrics or values for people's well being in this new MBO model. Success in this new organization is dependent upon a binary financial execution from top down. You either make profits or else. The fuzzy feel-good culture and the badge of the "Top company to work for" are just a really bad joke to him. I know because I used to work for him in another company.

Think about it, the company made a 180-degree turn from the past in terms of how people are treated. That was no accident. They made the CSs, managers and directors beg for their own jobs. They completely humiliated everyone in the interview process, well, unless you were one of the friends and family. That was purely a cleansing and screening exercise to only retain the most subservient lap dogs, and to create a cult organization. The mindset narrative was to ID and trip the potential naysayers. that's why it was so ambiguous. Anyone who really believes that there was actually some sort of mindset measuring stick, you really need to check your head. What they really wanted was absolute slave-like loyalty. The senior management knew that any independent thinkers and good people managers could be a serious threat to their objective. All along they knew this is just a significant downsizing operation in phases. They knew smart and independent people could derail them in between these phases. The knew these people would eventually call them out and revolt. This is really a bad social and corporate experiment that completely destroyed a phenomenal company. The sad part is that BA sleeps like a baby at night.

This post says it all. I hardly ever check out CP but decided to see how far Genentech had fallen under the current management. Worse than expected - a total disaster.

I’m a competitor and just wanted to share. My colleagues and I are getting calls from customers asking for help with patients.

Customers who never prescribed our drug first. Apparently the new structure at Genentech is “too busy with customer engagement” to help physicians and practice get patients on drug. Well done Genentech!!! Well done!

To my sales compadres. Thank you for sending them my way when they call you. We have always focused on patients and helping them. Thank you for doing the right thing and maintaining your professional integrity even if your former employer has not. Glad you’ve landed in better places.

Sounds fake. Get a life loser....

For being an ecosystem that has been up and running since January, Florida sure has very little to show in the form of performance.

Add to that, post-COVID, Florida never really meaningfully shut down economic activity. And yet, performance is not materially better than in any other ecosystem.

What are you guys doing with your time?

This might be fake, but it’s still true. I’m still with the org and have to agree. I have no time to check in on customers. Internal calls go all day, after hours work all night, and I’m lucky if I have a few hours a week away from a zoom. And those few hours I am taking a leak or eating or trying to keep my sanity from virtual overload. This model was not created by someone who doesn’t understand customers.

Yo. Same thing as ya’ll! On hangouts talking talking talking talking...and more talking.
Performance? You mean sales? Don’t even remember how to sell. And “selling” compliantly is an oxymoron so no one is even bothering.

Agree. This model has nothing to do with our customers. Now we’ve neglected them so long they don’t even care if we come back. They’ve taken our LACK OF ENGAGEMENT as indifference.

Just landed a new job and will start in 3 weeks. I know I will beat myself up for the rest of my life for not taking the package. At least I am leaving this sinking ship. It is impossible for me to think about working here for another week. I will need medications if I had to continue to listen to these worthless people blowing smoke on these calls. This place now has the most pathetic, dysfunctional and unqualified management team I have ever known. Goodbye Gene. We had some great memories! RIP.
