Fire everyone involved in shady backroom deals with Obama now!

Jeffery Kindler, Sandy Beatty, and Sally cooked up the whole idea to have the pharmaceutical industry support Obamacare. Jeff forced it down PhRMA's throat and he visited the White House to sell it to the Administration. Many within this company disagreed, but they were all eventuallly fired. You cannot make any deal with the government, to include the White House, that has a half-life of more than two years. Anyone with any policy sense knows that -- and this deal also violated many long held principles of the Company and the industry. This was all about JK's ambition to be a player in Demcratic circles and about the synchophants at Pfizer around him sucking up in order to advance thier own careers. I say bring on the investigation and hopefully a few of these folks will end up in very hot water. Maybe then, they can bring back some of the executives that made this Company great.

Since you were a huge supporter of George W Bush, the worst president in the last one hundred years, you'd best keep your big mouth shut because you know NOTHING.

No ass wipe. Obama is the worst President ever. Even Carter knew not to push his goofy "Green Agenda" in the seventies as it would cripple our economy. Carter though was the douche bag that sued NYC over the fucking snail darter and gave the EPA all its power. But, Solyndra, Obamacare, the NOT SO Stimulus, The "Green" agenda, the GM/Chrysler bail out, Union subsidies, Boeing law suit, Fast and Furious, The issues with China now...you tell me who the worst President is ass wipe! I can go on and on. But I will spare you. But he got Bin Laden - but then again, even Carter would have done that!!!!

If you hate this industry so much. Quit. Stop voting for ass wipes and maybe you will have a respectable IQ test next time.

Like your tea bag?

Pharma has always had powerful lobbists involved in politics. Just like health insurance companies, whose lobbyists led the negative rhetoric against Obamacare, because they didn't want to lose their massive profits from ripping off customer's and denying claims. Since Obamacare creates consumer protections and forces insurance companies to apply 80% of their profits to patient coverage, health insurance lobbyists, with the help of GOP politicians and Fox news, has worked overtime to trash Obamacare, which is merely a set of rules designed to help Americans get more for their coverage, like preventative care.

I am sure Pfizer has been at the table in Washington since it's inception and has used it's power and influence to push laws in order to gain greater profits. Look at the millions in CEO's Golden Parachutes when they retire, and all the other methods the 1% has benefitted from special loopholes and tax breaks!

"Pharma has always had powerful lobbists involved in politics."

This is true. But before Kindler, Susman, and Beatty, the lobbyists were paid to advance positions that helped the industry. By advancing an ill-concieved (and personally self-serving) plan to support Obamacare, however, these three have created a situation that will destroy enormous shareholder value for the pharmaceutical industry and, especially, Pfizer. Rich Bagger, who lead Corporate Affairs, and Eve Slater, who lead Policy strongly objected and were both fired. Susman got Bagger's job and Beatty got Slater's job. With the opposition silenced, Jeff pushed his plan through Pfizer's Board and PhRMA, had secret meeting with the White House, and, I have been told, invited Andy Stern (President of the ultra-liberal SEIU union) to visit him at Pfizer to plot strategy for how to advance the Obama Adminstrations Obamacare plan. Those who know say that Kindler's motivation was to enhance his reputation in Democratic circles and, hopefully, gain a senior position in the Obama White House.

What is amazing is that Susman and Beatty continue to hold their positions and exert influence at the company. It will be interesting to see the Feds peel this onion. I'm glad I will be 300 miles away in Ohio. The Pfizer Board should look into how all this went down and how they got so snookered. Too bad that an honest, compenet person who cared about Pfizer and the industry (like David Shedlarz or Karen Katen) didn't get selected Chairman. Then this would still be a leading company -- not one about to be taken down by the Feds.

I'm glad I'm 300 miles from this exploding mess in the good old Buckeye state.

Where was the board of directors through all this? Certainly they could have exerted some type of restraint of Kindler. It's the whole reason we have a board of directors.

"Where was the Board of Directors". What are you talking about? They are the ones who thought it was a good idea to fire all the senior leaders who made this company great, install Kindler, allow him to hire a whole cadre of unqualified outside "leaders" onto the 23rd floor, allow Ian to bring in all his buddies from Europe who know nada about the US, and continue to this day thinking that Pfizer is moving in the right direction. They are probably now believing what Ian is telling them just like they did for Kindler. Why wouldn't they believe Jeff when he told them it was a good idea for Pfizer to lead an industry effort to support the Democrats and Obama to create a healthcare system loathed by a majority of Americans that would violate every principle the company/industry had stood for for the past 25 years.

Wake up and realize that at this point its every man/woman for themselves around here. You will get no help from the top.

Stuff like this never went down under Rich Bagger. I guess that's why Govenor Christi wanted Rich on his team. Pfizer got Sussman as replacement to Rich (actually, he was fired to make way for Sussman). Go figure.

Ever since Hank became CEO, this company has lost it's moral compass, in my and many other opinions.
They can Pfire reps whose Drs. order an bottle of wine off the menu, but it's OK if the executives fly helicopters to and from work, have backroom deals with government officials and organize campaign dinners. Give me a Break....

One even wonders about the "real reason" Kindler was axed. The directors say, according to media, that it was because of his management style, but one wonders if they pfired him because they knew his "back room deal" would cause problems........

Makes you wonder what's true and what's not for the sake of cover up.

One can understand companies who do not rely on taxpayer money making "back room" political deals. But as we know, Pfizer gets most of it's profits from the taxpayer via, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, etc. This is one reason why reps or account managers are unable to "gift" or provide government workers with BRIBES.

CEO's don't typically get axed for being abrupt and mean to their subordinates. It seems He would have gotten a "Warning" from the Board rather than a hatchet. One would be left to believe that they were trying to "cover up". But eliminating people doesn't make the wrong go away.
