My biggest account closed their doors to ALL reps today. Our team has less than 60% access even to get in and this one will hurt. They said it is because of the JAMA article about how docs can be swayed by a $20 meal and they made the move that fast. They are not sure what to do about samples yet but for now - no access, no meals AT ALL and maybe they will arrange set appts for samples but it has not been decided yet. Anyone else hear anything on this? This counted for a boatload of my calls, both real and imagined.

What's the problem here? We all know doctors are basically whores. Most of my offices are no-see, but who gives a shit! I just lie like hell, and it has worked for years! Learn how to play the game man!

It is what it is. I often sit and wonder, while I "imagine" the impact I'm making clicking screens in the car, what am I doing? I still have years til retirement, but too old to start something new. The gig ain't much, but it does afford freedom, flexibility, time to be very active in my children's activities. I've resolved myself to stay and ride the storm out 'til the orchestra begins to play.
 




There are rumors of the biggest playa in my territory closing the doors to pharma at year's end. Many of the offices have already stopped taking samples, except respi and injectibles. They all still want their lunch, OF COURSE. But it's coming my way too.
 




Can you blame docs for not seeing reps? They are working harder for less pay more paperwork and much less job satisfaction. Here comes a pharma rep with pictures of her trip to some vacation spot taking the time of the office staff. Here comes another rep who doesn't know shit about their product. Oh here comes a rep who "stands and demands" telling you a medical school grad with years of experience that your treatment is wrong. Don't forget the rep with the DM and the dog and pony show that happens. I've seen reps dress up for Halloween... so professional. Overall...I would think if you were honest with yourself you wouldn't see reps either. Oh...and those of you who think you"save lives" you don't. Your comments are welcome.
 




I worked during the glory years and maybe I am just full of myself but back then I think we knew a little about our products. We just got a new hire - maybe 25 - who could barely speak pharma - pretty as shit by the way - and she knows almost nothing about us or our brands or doctors or healthcare and so it goes on and on and on and.....

Do you have a VCR sitting in storage collecting dust? Do you have a stereo or jam box somewhere with a cassette tape player? Have you found them useful in the last 10 years? No!!

Sorry that you work in useless area (mass) ,(calf)? Well my area hasn't really changed much in 20 years , but I feel your pain but in some aspects don't care anymore, I am done with this bullshit , just working for a salary.lol

Actually skippy I have better than 30 years with the company and legacy companies. I've seen it all and then some. Years ago pharma reps were respected...did not give messages-had two way discussions with doctors and imparted knowledge. Believe it or not skippy, some calls with doctors lasted better than half an hour. Sales reps were professional and very very few doctors didn't see reps. The majority of calls were sit downs. What I wrote about was today's pharma rep. A shell of the past. No professionalism. No knowledge of pharma or their products and NO VALUE to the doctor. That's why few docs want to see reps. Oh some want a lunch or samples from you but to have a product discussion or disease state discussion with you? Forget it. Oh I forgot you are not allowed to have a disease state discussion only a message. This model is dead just waiting for the funeral Skippy now you go back to your basement in mom's house and get ready for work asswipe.

Actually, my mom still calls me Skippy, but I prefer Skip.

Couldn't agree with you more. 20+ years in and things started changing for the worse shortly afterwards. There was a time when this was a dream job. You really had to sell yourself on the interview. Now? Idiots can't sell crap. Started in 2000 with the massive expansion for Nexium and Crestor. Now you have managers and CBD's that were part of that and would be laughed out of offices but they fit a profile that warrants career progression. Get it?

This is a great example of the 20 something entitled generation who has nothing to say of value and spews this nonsense. You are a great representative of your generation. Soon you will be working at Wal-mart gathering carts in the parking lot. You never realized how good you had it and what could have been in your professional career.

Now you have to feed the machine with R & F. If you don't there will be a world of pain, but we all know what that means.

Managers see the same 10-20 docs every field ride, but do not question because their career is at risk too if reps can't see enough doctors. The RBDs and RVPs all fall in line...
