You are right! I have made many postings on other topics but you shall never know which ones fools! Renal was a great division and never should have gone away. This is my dream come true! Yesssssss!

I was a former Shire Rep for the Renal Division and my position was eliminated on a phone call in July of 2010. Here is how it goes: When the phone rings, if your RD is on the line, hooray, spared for another day. If it is anyone else, you are on your way out the door.
Here is where I part from the above contributer. Shire bent over backwards to find me another opportunity within the company, but in the end, I would not agree to significant relocation. Many did get up and move, and today they are still Shire employees.
My severence package was more than fair, and they paid out all bonuses that were due and then some.
I would go back to work for Shire any day if the right position was available. Today is no fun, but you will survive, and the people at Shire will do their best to support you.

Did they try to find you another spot after the phone call or before?
 






Hang myself?? No I went and got another job within weeks and enjoyed my severance and bonus payouts as a Super Bonus! Don't wait one minute if the news is bad today. Start networking and posting for new jobs. The longer you are unemployed, the lower your stock value.

I worked with several internal Shire recruiters who were very nice after the lay-off call. My only problem was significant relocation was not in the cards for me. Be professional, be polite...you might be able to maintain your paycheck at Shire.

If your position is eliminated today, the call will be very brief and scripted. Be strong, don't get emotional. Work to help yourself....

So it sounds like if you are displaced, a internal recruiter will call you at some point to try to place you in a white space and you will have to interview for it?
 






One other thing that is completely false about this original post is the "no Renal folks found new opportunites with Shire". I can think of at least 30 people who found new opportunities from senior managers to field reps. Don't shoot yourself in the foot today, Shire is a big company with many positions for you if conduct yourself in a dignified manner.

Are you kidding me, you were only able to obtain a 5% National market share for Fozzy, looser division got what it deserved because you couldn't sell and got your ass handed to you by an inferior competitor that had 3 times the pill burden. Shire tried to even give Fozzy away to federal accounts and you still couldn't sell it there. We know why you feel renal was a great division because there was a lot of ing going on like:
fucking, sucking, drinking, loafing, and dreaming.
