Expansion????

Well put, we are doomed!!! They will try to get dirt on some reps and then manage them out or make up BS on reps and fire them on BS. Ensure you keep your noses real clean and ask for a code of ethics policy as well as expenses policy so you know that your RD can't make shit up to HR.

Do the minimum, pretend all is great at Shire, your happy with your pay increase and so greatful for being here at Shire. Whilst doing this send your resumes out and just enjoy the free gas and car. Drive everywhere and anywhere with the car and enjoy doing not a lot. Your RD is going to pretend they are coming out with you on a ride along by sending out invites but then cancel or go sick. So enjoy what we have for how ever long we have it. By the way anyone else's RD had way more than 10 sick days in a year and still they have two weeks vacation time left....hmmmmmm???

Can someone explain this stupid expansion when Intuniv is going generic in December! What are they doing? Someone needs to ask on the conference call tomorrow! 2nd conference call this week with KK!

Customer overlap??? Kathy is so clueless as to what works and what our customers want… they certainly don't want two reps talking the same thing … just turning into every other pharma company

That's what I was wondering, for how long?

It's through the launch. Kathy mentioned that new launches require frequency. Once the launch is over we will official realign and right size according to Abbvies plans and structure. As long as you are guaranteed a new territory within x number of miles from your home you are not eligible for severance under Shire's plan. That's the goal of these territories and it's been accomplished. The good news is you are safe during the holidays and possibly 6 months after the merger. Enjoy it, but continue to financially secure yourself so you are not blindsided.

this^^

The increase in sales force for greater reach is understandable -----but greater frequency on top customers? Really? That sales model peaked in 1998.

It shouldn't surprise you. All of this is very old school and is how Kathy approaches the business.

Actually this expansion is meant to pump up the number now through the launch. After that, Perry really doesn't care because he'll have hit his retention bonus metric.

There were several territories with 500+ targets/non targets all writing decent amounts of ADHD. There is no way a rep can effectively call on this many doctor with the right amount of frequency. Then you had other reps with only 100 targets and non targets. The territories were not carved out well in the beginning. I am surprised that they are making no changes to core territories. I can only assume they are waiting for Abbvie to come in and chop things up to its right size.

The sad thing is the conference call was meant to be good news. But the sales force has lost all faith and trust in Shire so everyone is still trying to find the catch in all this.

Anyone here believe this to be the case?

Where you on the call? Have you read the change of control policy? Yes, this is true. Its the only way they can use Abbvies severance policy. By not guaranteeing every active rep a territory, shire would have to honor the change of control policy. How else do you think they are able to bypass it. There is a set time they have to honor the job, usually it's 6 months after merger, sometimes it's 9 months, sometimes 12 months. Whatever it is its written in the merger contract. Go back and read through the site on other companies who have been through this process and you will get a idea of how it works.

Why would an expansion need to happen to implement this? Wouldn't it be cheaper to wait until Abbvie's severance rules apply and then do layoffs?
