Its not just the DP butt kissers, it's all of the butt kissers being brought over from previous companies. Just take a look at all the managers and director who have direct reports. Nepotism is real here. If there is an opening anywhere here, you better have been up the ass of the hiring person that came from a previous company.
I've seen this point in multiple threads for this company. Hiring for loyalty won't get the best results and it wont lead to building a leading role in neuroscience. When things are good though, they are very very good.
