EMID reps looking and leaving in droves!

The reps that will leave will be the Sr. reps and not the Executive or 1-2 yr entry device rep. There wont be layoffs. The Sr.'s will leave and allow for entry level positions to replace higher paid reps. Its a smart move by COV. The exec's will stick around...I dont blame them for the pay they are getting. With the economy being what it is, contracts are becoming the driving force of the Endo business (for both EES and COV). Why do you need talented sellers in a more contractually driven market? COV has realized this and set the comp plan up to encourage higher paid reps to move on. The Exec's will be be around to train the new hires.

This is 100 percent correct. They want to do it gradually so there is not a mass exodus at once, that would make us miss the number by too much. There are newer people at corporate who came from pharma and are trying to do the same to device that happened to them in pharma by cutting pay and hiring sales associates for 80k. Get out while you still can.

Not cutting EMID a break but this formula is playing out throughout most of the medical device industry. By restructuring the comp plan, effectively forcing everyone to miss their number or miss out on a sizable portion of money, they don't have to layoff anyone. The fed up reps will leave and allow them to hire cheaper alternatives. Ask the guys in ortho, its the same game, just a different company.
