It isn't what happens to you, it is what you do about it. RIFs suck and they aren't unique to this company or even this industry, though Pharma has been hit pretty hard. If you aren't on LinkedIn, get on it. If you haven't updated your profile in a while, do so. Spend time on your resume to make it as good as it can be. Emphasize accomplishments over tasks. If you were impacted, reach out to your network to let them know you are looking.

No matter what, maintain a positive mindset and be professional, even on here . . . especially on here. Lots of studies prove that attitude makes a big difference in your confidence and overall success. How you talk about your experiences probably impacts your attitude more than you know. Even though it may feel good to vent here, it does not help you in any way. It just reinforces the negatives that drag you down. Emphasize the positives, learn from the negatives and push forward.

Nothing about this world is "fair". Put yourself in control and make this the first day of the rest of your career. Lots of people have been there before and emerged much better off. You can do that, too. Best of luck to everyone.

Though getting the ax for no reason is not new to Publicis or the industry, the way this was handled was completely unprofessional and shitty. Everything that was said on the 6/22 conference call was a total lie. Access and tenure played no part in these decisions. In my district over half of us were let go; way beyond 15-20%. The only reps kept had been here less than a year. It is just insult on top of injury considering we worked for half of what AZ pays their own only to get screwed again

You are going to be okay. Good, objective post. Best bet is to not be bitter about it. The new alignment was probably cut by numbers. Some of the industry has gone full crazy by relying too much on consultants with surprisingly little idea of what the ground war looks like. Others hire reps and win. Share of voice matters, and good reps matter a lot. You weren't screwed as much as you were reminded that it's better to be somewhere other than where you were. Go find that place, because hiring is happening. Just keep the mindset to compete. Be brilliant.

It would be interesting to know how many were actually let go. Most of my district was "displaced". Anyone know the final numbers? It just seems like it was much higher than the 20%. I am sooooo glad I was let go. Good luck to all!!!
