'Dopesick' series on Hulu

some hilarious accuracy like they way they nailed the Richard character and Howard Udels jowls. Big Red was horribly portrayed though. Haddox character was decently captured.

However - this purposefully myopic and sensationalized smear campaign had NO CLINICAL regard or balance to millions of patients that actually needed the med and the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY that took it appropriately. Go ask doctors today on the clinical merit of the product and they'll tell you its still a valued medication.

Fun watch though!
AMEN! I worked in South Florida during that time period. Early in my career. I would listen to the Purdue Rep talk w/ the Doc. I would also talk to the rep when in the waiting room. I would hear their pitch that it is non habit forming. I would see license plates from all over the south in front of these dr.s offices, lines of patients. Then the doc would suddenly open an MRI clinic next door and then would have their own urinalysis lab in the office or next door. It was all a giant scam. However I do not blame the reps. I don’t think they fully understood what the outcome would be or even how addicting the medication is. I blame all of the upper management. They all have blood on their hands.

Former employee here for 8 years and i can tell you that this is not 100% accurate —more like 30%. I worked in various areas—training, sales, and management and did not come from a pill mill territory either. Agree with previous poster that no one says a thing about Percocet, Vicodin, fentanyl, and opana. I was never once told to promote off-label when i was a rep or told my team to do so. I sold both when it wasn’t formulated and when it was as well.

However, entertaining from Hollywood on the characters.

Agree… former employee here for 14yrs about this.

Exactly

PCP's have few patients waiting in today's environment. Back then, rooms filled. They'd wait for hours. There were not 'sicker" patients back then...there were more "dopesick"patients due to the quest for oxy and whales in the area would give it to them.

Anyone else watching this? Wondering if anyone who was here back then can comment on the show's accuracy, particularly on the sales training, and personalities of the Sacklers.

As a device rep (a real med sales person) No matter what drug you’re selling pharma is a joke. Recruiters now specify “NO PHARMA!” A lot of companies coming out with other alternatives to opioids. Time for you shit bags to get an actual job

I’m a med device rep (actual medical sales and not some scum bag pharma rep) Pharma reps are a joke. Ever look at job postings and see “NO PHARMA!” That’s cause they are known as a joke in the industry. Pharma gives this industry a bad name. As we call them in device “glorified caterers”. A lot of companies coming out with products to combat opioids and hospitals now getting incentives to not prescribe opioids. Fuck pharma

Why would anyone believe that a wildly sensationalistic version of a f’d up narrative would be true? Sure, deaths and dates are true (though over 90% had other drugs and/or alcohol in their systems) but the way they depicted training and marketing? Total bullshit! We were never Insys nor anything like it!

Actually, worked in corporate (now ashamed to admit) and this was not sensationalistic at all. If anything, it downplayed the personalities of the Sacklers. It also didn't fully show how completely manipulated the sales and marketing team became very quickly, and the reason for that is the pay was so very high and unattainable anywhere else. It kept those earning so much in a bubble of ignorance since their pay was never again to be had.

The amount of sales team members sleeping with each other was not clearly depicted, either. The full leadership team that was accountable almost as much as the Sackler family was not fully depicted.

This was a horrible company that was really, really good at paying off people, firing those who they perceived as a risk with a document that prevented whistleblowers. They had it down to a SCIENCE!

It’s so easy to cry foul so many years after the alledged fact. EVERYONE signed NDA’s? Total bullshit. You are a fraud. If there was a shred of evidence to a quarter of the slanderous depiction of the goings on in this farce of a show, whistleblowers would have come out of the woodwork -especially the morally superior fucktards like you!

Yet, here you are with a second eloquent posting. You must be very busy.

You didn’t work here during the Purdue I know for 22 years… go away troll. This was not true during the windell and Russ days. After 2015, things changed but before then was the premier pharma company for culture for pay.

Spoken like a true delusional moron. You do the same shit as a device rep as pharma reps do. In fact, several of my friends in device sales tell me how their marketing practices are far worse than what pharma does.

I call complete and TOTAL bullsh*t on this statement. Sposato as the author of "titrate til the patient says thank you", etc etc. Culture? Gasdia was the one who said "at least the tragedy of 9/11 will replace Oxycontin abuse in America's headlines (disgusting) Windell followed Chris's every move and had reps directing docs to promote 4800 q12h Oxy.

Not to mention what Purdue touted as independent, 3rd party, non-biased sources--the AAPM, APF, etc. Turns out Purdue was the MAJOR financial contributor to each and every one of them. Bias, opinion. Etc was clearly bought and paid for.

Glad Purdue was successful in their brainwashing of you. They wanted everyone who worked for them to think they were premier. Definitely not the case!

and when did you leave and how many bonuses did you return?

It was all approved by the government, they are on the up and up always. Trying reading the FPI and what the studies say. That is all Pharma reps are allowed to talk about “Dipshits”

Worked at Purdue in the sales training department for 5 years. Omg what I know now that I didn't know then. Everyone in the department strutting around like they were the best sales people in the world. What a joke. Every rep who got promoted to a sales trainer position from the field ALL came from areas of the country where pill mills were everywhere. There were plaques on the walls of their office with district rep of the year. One sales trainer was even sleeping with one of her pill mill docs. But when you're making $80,000 a quarter in bonus plus company car, 70k salary and free vacations......out the window goes any type of decency and responsibility for creating thousands of heroin addicts and destroying the community in which you are living and working in. Shame on them all. I hope they are all blacklisted from the industry. Keep in mind it's really easy to sell ANYTHING that people are breaking into pharmacy's to steal.

And to the poster who says its bullshit? I've got one company name for you that says it all IMS Data. You knew every script that was being prescribed to every doctor. Purdue pioneered the road to the Opioid epidemic. Period.

Exactly! And if you’re one of the greedy reps who kept collecting paychecks and big bonuses for YEARS, I’d like to see how having Perdue on your resume is treating you now? There is no way reps did not know what was going on, especially in pill mill places like FL and LA. If you didn’t get out after a year or two, then it speaks volumes to one’s integrity. I’d never hire or recommend someone who worked through the whole OxyContin launch until Perdue’s demise (hence forced to leave). It’s just gross. So many lives lost and if you were working there, you were a part of the problem!!!

I mean “Purdue”
