Do we need more reps?

Although the acute pain market is flooded with generics, Xartemis XR has huge potential across so many therapeutic specialties...especially if the abuse deterrence language is included in the package insert.
There are still many branded writers if a drug has an advantage, is reasonably covered and affordable for patients.

The pain category is the largest in pharma today and more reps are necessary to attain an impactful share of voice, reach, frequency and drive a successful launch. This is a great opportunity and the reception by legacy Mallinckrodt reps of Ventiv new hires has been exceptionally positive in my area. I'm grateful to be aboard and the training and tools have been top tier so far. A welcome change from big pharma micromanagement and downsizing.

There are always some growing pains to work through but a lot of accomplished, hard working talent has been hired to compliment the existing and knowledgeable legacy Mallinckrodt reps.

Let's get to work and make it happen.

Think of it as a buffer. They'll get canned before a dedicated rep will. Happens that way every time. Every time.

I would agree with you but at my last company they went by rankings and if an Inventiv rep was ranked hire than a permanant rep they kept the Inventiv rep and got rid of their own rep. Think about it this way we have a contract with Inventiv they would save more money in the long run getting rid of one of us especially if the Inventiv rep is performing well.

Not in today's market! Often companies will take the one time hit
Of paying out severances to their direct hires to save money down the road. Don't think Mallinckrodt has loyalty to their direct hires; when one leaves, they are replaced by an Inventiv rep. There is no loyalty here or with any other companies these days.

Bang.... instant hospital division. This is really great news and an opportunity for all of us. Becoming a hospital rep is usually considered to be a promotion and looks really good on a resume. As soon as the purchase is complete and they are officially part of us, I'm applying.

Applying for what? They are already full with 130 reps.

Hospital used to be a great job but is now stressful and overrated. Access is terrible. Many major academic medical centers do not allow reps at all, and you will be constantly scrambling for business at small community hospitals. You will work lots of nights doing speaker programs and weekends doing conferences because it is hard to access customers during the day.

Ridealongs are stressful because there often isn't enough to do between 8 and 5.

It is also easier to control your sales in offices than it is in hospitals.

If you decide to go for a hospital gig, make sure it's a territory where you are allowed into your key hospitals.

The grass is not necessarily greener in this situation.

Sounds to me like someone is coming up with all the reasons why they aren't good enough to be a hospital rep!

How would someone with no hospital experience know all those details about the job?

Be smart--interview people who are currently hospital reps and find out what things are really like before you make the leap. Make sure you know what kind of access you will have in your accounts.

Are you are moron?????? These are extremely professional and seasoned sales reps with a minimum of 15 years of individual highly successful hospital sales experience. You don't have a prayers chance of getting a job and it is very funny you would think you would. There is absolutely no reason to increase the size of the sales force and it there was, they would be looking for someone with several successful years of President Clubs awards and high rankings in the hospital sales environment.

We are all paid based on our experience and there is not any difference in what a ventiv rep gets and what we get. There are a lot of reps who have been here for a while and they make more because they have worked their way up to it and earned a higher base.
