DM's add no value, only cost

What do they really do? They provide no value to field reps, their primary function is to ensure people are actually out working and know how to discuss the products appropriately with the customer. Ridiculous!

Put these people to work!!! Make them roll up their sleeves and also make calls within their district. They should be working managers!! They are clueless and no nothing about the doctors!!

Correcting my grammar...They KNOW nothing about our Doctors. Hard to believe how they have become such a hindrance to us doing the most important things in driving our business.

Our Doctors hate these people standing over our shoulder! They assign reports, activities, busy work (AKA Initiatives), whatever they can come up with to justify their existence and look good on their performance review. Makes me sick!

Who would approve your expense report? Who would dole out the program money? Who would do a half day ride day and sit in the sample closet saying nothing during your calls? Who would contact the hotels to set up footprint collaboration meetings? Who would do your six month and year end reviews? Who would travel to managers meetings only to come home with no new information? Who would hire the new contract reps to replace your jobs? Who would approve your vacations? Who would approve the money for you to do medical conferences? Maybe we aren't so valuable.

End the silly field travel days. Such a parade of idiocy when docs play along while dipshit DM does his wallflower impression looking to find something to "coach" the rep on.

"coach" your stupid DM ass back to the car and shut the hell up! We don't need you people in the car with us - make yourselves useful and go make calls somewhere and help sell something!!

Many years ago, in a land far away, DM's actually had key accounts assigned to them to call on. On field rides, they would take the call, more often than not, from start to finish. Ask your DM to take several calls during the day, and watch them piss themselves. They were an asset, not a liability like they are today. They rode with reps about every 2 to 3 months, and sometimes they would go much longer than that.

The current management role of DM holds no value whatsoever.

You could have an MD tell you that all they will RX is your drug and you would get coached that you did not know the first name of the temp in Medical Records. DM's are a joke.

Absolutely correct! These guys are cheating the company with their puffy salaries and do nothing but get in the way!! Come on Doug Cole, get rid of this overpaid do nothing position!! Put these people (some of them very talented) to work. Their job is such a fairy tale of make believe and creating busy work.

My DM is constantly wasting our time in the field by calling meetings. Our meetings have no positive impact on our sales efforts. It is time they can these people and re-engineer the whole DM role - this is 2014, DM's are no longer needed. Obsolete...end of story!

My D M has added tremendous value to my territory. We pre call planned for 20 minutes , worked on an open ended , interest generating opening for another 20, set up a strong close incorporating a managed care message .I went from 6 brintellix scripts to 4 after I rode with him. Now he wants me to lead a conference call reviewing best practices for my district . You can't make this stuff up

Cyber bullying is just not cool and bespeaks of a cowardly individual.

I would laugh my ass off to see you muster up the courage to propose that your DM take the call. You are probably too scared and busy kissing their ass every time they come to visit to ask anything or suggest there might be a better way to handle a given customer. You pussy.

Let the truth be heard, they are completely outdated. Oh, and BTW - does anybody take them seriously anyway?

The current DM role is to manage with fear. From speaking with other reps in my district, as well as in other districts and regions, we all feel like our DMs are there to point out everything we aren't doing right. Let's go back to the true days of selling when being in your territory selling was the key responsibility. Having conference calls about call activity and webcasts ALL day does not increase sales. Being in front of our customers, with minimal distractions, is the key to this job.

~ we need to let go of all the full timers and bring back all "part-timers". they have the ability to get so much done per week in so little time. they organize, they train well. they receive a car, benefits and bonus. they only work about 4 hours per week, because they need time to shop, pick up the kids from school, drop the kids off at soccer practice, go to the gym, go to the spa, get their nails done, get their hair cut and colored. go to the mall, go their husband's dental office for a noon drilling and thrilling. lets bring back all the complaining, snotty little part-time reps. they are the chosen, the smartest, the sharpest at figuring a way out of NOT working. they are great at milking the system and milking their fellow employees. I vote to bring back the part-timers! ~
