Divesting Dermagraft at the end of 2013

Yes, Shire has a history of divesting BUs that are not profitable for the long-term, this was an Angus purchase not Flemming so do the math.

The ex adhd employees will be brought back over as reps with the new vyvanse indications and everyone else should read the new severance e-mail that was sent out last week.
 






Speaking of the email about new severance policy...
Was that random or what? Can we look forward to another layoff? Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get laid off this time.
 






Shire has a history of divesting under Angus but what about Flemming, he might not make the same choices. I think it makes sense to divest this product to a specialist, it didn't fit with Shire in the first place and feels like the homework on it and its top team wasn't done right.
 


















It depends on where revenues settle once sales of Dermagraft are based on the product itself and not squashed down by news about legal issues and investigations. Now all that is settled revenues should grow, but if Shire can't sufficiently grow the revenue to a reasonable level it should sell the product on to someone who can.

Actually, the new Medicare ruling that will allow less than $1,000 per application will be what causes Dermagraft to go away. Only a few months left. All they tell us is that it will be us and Apligraf. Where is the proof? There is none. The only proof is that Medicare will no longer reimburse what we cost. It's over. Even if what they are telling us is true, Medicare will not reimburse the center for what we cost. It's actually over either way.

We will just have to drop our price that simple. Just look to NPWT lots of players took it on the chin and now all is well with the world life goes on. You may not be along for the ride but oh well its coming the post-graft D & A world where newer entrants can make that shift easily and the dinosaurs can't

Sorry...I'm in another Shire division so I don't receive the same emails. But I am curious...did the email give specifics to what severance would look like if there were lay offs? I've been over here for awhile and don't recall ever seeing an email like that-so I find it interesting that something like that would be sent.
Again, any specifics would be appreciated. Thanks (and I agree with so many posts, we did screw this product up!)

Because people make decisions based on information. Perhaps this specifically does not impact them directly, but it is used to make decisions based on the assumption that it COULD happen to them. So if Shire decides to eliminate bonuses in one division, would you want to know the details? Stop being so hostile. Simply read the document from CMS. Read it. It says $850. It is from CMS. I don't understand how we have people like you working here. It doesn't matter who will be approved. The $850 IN THE CMS DOCUMENT is what will matter. Will your wound center put on a $1,700 graft if they get paid $850? They wouldn't even put on a graft that costs $900 if they get paid $850. They won't lose money. DG is no better than any other product out there.
