Why are you so focused on skin color? Focus on who has the most qualifications. Who has the experience. Who can get the job done. Promoting anybody based on skin color is the definition of racism. Simply putting a brown, white, black, yellow or green person in a position simply because they have a particular skin tone is childish and foolish.

100 brown, yellow, white, black pink or whatever color or whatever gender doesn't matter. It matters who has the best qualifications and who can get the job done. If we have 100 rainbow colored questionable gendered people in the room and they get the job done then they deserve to be there. The hiring manager should choose the best qualified applications period.

It’s hysterical how white guys think that they were never the beneficiaries of race consciousness. As if white is not a race. You really think that for decades “the best person for the job” just happened to be a straight white guy 95% of the time? Gimme a break. The past wasn’t some golden age of meritocracy that has suddenly been cast aside. It was an all-white, all-boys club that needed to be disbanded.

And as you used to say to qualified black and female candidates back in the day: tough sh*t, buttercup. No free rides.
