Discount on Vika-infested Miami??

To be FAIR, check prices of all hotels in Miami at this time of year. The Ritz is only a few bucks more. We are staying in a historic hotel on Miami Beach. Its considered to be 5 star. If you don't want to go, don't. But quit whining about every little thing. It's so immature.

This is a business meeting, not your vacation.

And, I will add: Shire hired you several months ago. You've been paid very well to do the job we had. 99% of us have a 10% plus raise over our last positions. You were paid target bonus to push a sync button every day. You've been riding around in a new car with your cell bill paid and maybe part f your home internet bill as well. DON'T talk about Shire being cheap.

Very well said. Although there is a bit too much being thrown at us all at once, you are 100% correct. Nice hotel, good food, and yes, we will do a bit of work there.
 






People do meetings in FL and AZ during the summer months for one reason........ It's cheap! And now with Zika virus being so prominent down there they practically pay you to come have a meeting there. Zika or not, they did it to save money.

So what? You will be in a nice place. What difference does it make? You're not there to party or play, you'll be working. Zika was not an issue when this was booked. It is not in the area of Miami we will be in. Like others have mentioned-dont go. No one is forcing you.

First Im not a female executive. Second, what does your comment have to do with the cost of the hotel room? When you are hired at any pharma company you know you will be away for initial training. Some are two weeks. Some are three weeks-including WEEKENDS. Then, you also know there will be meetings all through the year, usually a week long. There will be National Sales Meetings, Zone meetings, Regional meetings, and yes, training meetings. We are staying in a very nice hotel in Miami. We are not there to play. We are not there to cater to your every whim. If you need special treatment, open your own business. This is the industry we are in. It was not my preferred weekend, but its OVER. Move on! Youve had a VERY EASY few months of not really working over the SUMMER months when your kids were out of school. Each and every one of you had the option to back out of the weekend meeting and attend the next week in Boston. One of my team mates did and there was no problem AT ALL. SO, STOP BITCHING! If you dont want to go to Miami because of ZIKA, noone is forcing you. There is an alternative place and date. No one is expecting pregnant women or those who are practicing to be pregnant to attend that meeting. The hotel is not cheap. Running these meetings is not cheap. If you dont like it FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. There are many. Ive been with several. I have stayed in some pretty CRAPPY hotels for meetings.
