Difference between Novolog v Humalog?

This.

As a new hire, you will try to detail the studies you have learned showing a supposed superiority with Novo, or try to scare the practice with the 'e coli bacteria' spiel. This only makes you look bad. Humalog and Novolog are essentially the same, remember that. The difference is you, your service and treatment of the office, formulary coverage, patient ed materials and assistance programs.

It all comes down to cost and coverage. All of this other garbage will not be effective.

Since Novolog is yeast derived, it causes allergic reactions in patients with mold allergies that Humalog doesn't cause.

known side effects include itching, irritation and swelling at the injection site when used in a pump on sensitive patients. I suspect it is also a reason for early insulin resistance in patients.

Dont believe the hype that your training department shovels to you. One reason that the industry has diminished credibility is the regurgitated market-speak that most reps push out during their 55 second-long hallway blasts.

Ask DBM Jim Patag the difference. He tells his reps to say Novolog has a faster onset than Humalog but there is no data to support that. Idiot.

You are correct on all but one; it's not you it's the coverage the patient has and or what the hospital started them one (if they came out on something).
We are but just comedic (or tradject) break between patients

Ya but his numbers are good even though he is the worst manager with any pharma company, so HR will prob protect him. He has asked several reps to speak off label. He even spoke off label to a physician and a couple reps turned him in. HR simply does not care. I bet the executives would, however.

OK, we get it. You've been singing this tune for months now. Get over it or crawl back under your rock.

Ask Scott Boyer, formerly with BMS, what a douche this guy is!

From a pharmacist's perspective they are interchangeable. They are equally potent. The Humalog comes in mini-vials specially designed for pumps. Humalog is good for an extra day in the reservoir.

Don't believe the hype. Nobody is going to do a prior approval to switch novolog to humalog.

Actually from a pharmacology standpoint, since Novo is yeast based, it has somewhat more of a tail on it than Humalog. As a pharm D, and a Type 1 diabetic, I have used both, and from a pure clinical perspective, Novolog from a buffering agent standpoint has more of a tail on it. if you set your IOB in your pump correctly, it is much more efficacious than Humalog....just FYI.
