Did someone say "sell the spread"? If so who?

That wasnt the question, I know they didnt. I was asking if anyone has ever heard them claim that they were a part of Genentech Oncology team.

When RR joined Dendreon, his bio stated that he was a big part of launching Herceptin. He also brought this up himself at several meetings. This got a lot of smirks from former Genentech folks who claim that he was fired from Genentech before 1996 and Herceptin didn't even launch until September of 1998.

According to multiple sources, his firing from Genentech happened not once but twice. At one point he worked as a marketing consultant for a non-oncology brand and actually gave one of the Product Managers the full marketing plan for one of their competitors. The Director of Marketing found out and asked, "is this ethical, and besides, don't you think he's doing the same thing with our plan". Both the PM and RR were subsequently fired.

There you have it New Chief Compliance Officer. It's right there for you. That is grounds for you to call RR into your office to discuss this and ask him this question yourself. If you do not you are already NOT doing your job.

It's a shame Dendreon was missing a compliance officer for 4 months right after a debacle by its management. Employees had no legit compliance person to talk to. Hundreds of employees were let go while there was no Chief Compliance Officer. This was intentional. Federal Authorities are aware that Dendreon was without a Chief Compliance Officer for 4 months. That is unheard of and probably unprecedented in the last 20 years or more. Many things this company does and has done are unheard of. A CEO selling almost 80% of his shares in one fell swoop is another thing that is absolutely unheard of. It may have never even happened before.

There is no fixing this. The law will fix it.

You are absolutely correct. RR was fired from Sanofi, had nothing to do with Herceptin and even was fired from Genentech and as everyone knows now based on available information, he was fired at Bayer as well. Idont workfor Dendreon but I did work in both Sanofi and Genentech and know the story about RR is completely true.

I've heard that too but you left off the best part. The Marketing Director that fired him the second time was none other than Varun.

I have a question. To those on the Dendreon sales team, has Peggy or Rob even said that they were part of the oncology team at Genentech? I heard this a few times recently and find is hard to believe. Rituxan was launched in 1997. Both had left Genentech years prior, and never worked on any of the oncology brands. That is a fact. Please confirm if you heard either of them state this. HR wants to know.

Rituxan was approved and launched in 1986!

And Herceptin was launched in US in June 1999. Photos of the launch team exist and neither PF and RR were part of the company. This is ridiculous that they are even claiming to have anything to do with either product. HR will be receiving phone calls from me and others this week. Oh and Varun was fired from Genentech for sexual harrassment as well.

I saw a golf article discussing Peg on the women's tour and a large part of the article was about her faith.

Blatantly telling salespeople to "sell the spread" to doctors who are treating dying cancer patients doesn't mesh with any faith I have ever studied.

I think doctor's should treat cancer patients with the best possible treatment for that individual patient. If it happens to be Provenge, great. For Peg to want doctors to base treatment decisions on how much doctors can make is at the very least a morally bankrupt statement but also very possibly illegal. I hope tapes of this are in the right hands.

Something was never right with Peg.

MG said the following quote publically to investors on August 3, 2011:

"Our commercial team is led by our Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, Robert Rosen, whose extensive oncology experience includes the launch of several major products including Eloxatin, Herceptin, and Nexavar. Rob fills the gap in our organization that has existed for approximately six months and we are glad to have him aboard."

Is this a true quote?

Sad part of all this is HR did not want to know or they would have properly vetted this guy.

Joe R and PF were at the business review meetings and they too were advocating "selling the spread". PF closed the Boston meeting by saying..."are you kidding me? Are you kidding me...we need to make sure that doctors know just how profitable it is to prescribe P..." She then compared it to the revenue generated from a robotic proceedure and said...in 3 one hour infusions physicians can make more than a robotic proceedure. All the while Joe R and RR were shaking their heads in agreement.

PF and th new commercial VP have a history from Imclone... good or bad, not sure.

Head of HR is one of the highest paid HR guys in the world yet doesn't seem to know how to use google for background checks.

If true, he would never has allowed the hiring of JD. If you thought RR was bad, just wait until you see JD. He wont last 6 months before he gets into hot water. He lasted less than that at Abraxis before he was shown the door.

Yet Peg remains.

If CMS reimbursement is structured so as to permit a 6% spread and the ASP filed by Dendreon actually equals the WAC paid by the doctor; then the resulting margin available to the physician will be preserved at 6%. Interestingly, there are high cost therapeutics where this math does not work and the physician stands to either break even or lose money. If I were a physician I would certainly want to know if I was going to lose money however, the notion of promoting based simply on available margin is clearly problematic.
