For those of you who have not been retained and have decided to go after a diabetes overlay position, I think you should be aware of an email that went out this morning that does not look like you were copied in on (according to my ex-partner).
BI has decided to repost the diabetes overlay positions so members of the cardiology specialty team can post for those. Apparently very few CV reps thought it was a good idea to step down from specialty and back into the PC arena to sell Jardiance for the CV indication. Now BI is encouraging them to apply for these positions many of you had so hoped would enable you to return to work.
IMO: those laid off are not deemed "qualified" as BI is apparently valuing CV spec over you. In addition, since this email was not copied to those facing termination, this creates an illusion that upcoming diabetes overlay position interviews actually make a difference, while more than likely, these positions will be filled by representatives on the CV team, thus leaving you on the outside looking in, as was with the HSBS roles many in PC were overlooked for.
Even though I was retained, I feel bad for those of you trying to retain a job here at BI. I had an awesome partner who was not retained, who deserves to come back, but realistically, will not have a shot if any local CV reps put in for the overlay position and the interviews will not be fairly weighted, each on their own merit.
Not sure if I should be surprised by this move by BI, especially since Pradaxa patent extension was denied by FDA. Still a low blow to all affected. Good luck and my prayers are with you.
