Details on Severance Package, etc.

Glad to know more details about our impending layoff. Hope no one will be caught too off guard. Can someone please share what severance will be like? Don't they have to give Advanced notice because of the WARN act? If all the OSS side is gone, that would qualify for 60 days notice plus severance- am I wrong? Also curious how quickly they will take fleet cars for those who still have them and what will they do for those 45 people who already purchased their own car?! Damn these people.
 






I don't know if the details are ironed out yet. HR hasn't signed off on the protocol in initiating a reduction in force. Traditionally, severance package is 1 week salary for every year of employment. Unused vacation days are paid out too. Notification can be as little as 2 weeks, but you can count on the company accelerating the exit process as soon as the next day. Corp card cut off, equipment returned, etc. You should be able to keep the co car and gas card until your very last day though.

Company-wide reorg will take place but the following info is for Branded Pharma division: The RBDs on both sides met this past week with upper management and the details of the sales force consolidation were all but finalized. There isn't an official total of territories, but it's safe to assume that one third of the current number, OSS and HSS, will be "absorbed". Territories and districts will be merged and displacement will affect mainly the OSS reps and managers. If you're an OSS rep and you haven't been contacted by now regarding taking an HSS opening in your area then you'd better brace yourself. Clear signs of what's to come after the end of Q3.
 






They had no problem during spin time letting reps stay in cars with a ton of miles on them, so why didn't they do they same this time? Instead they have people buying cars probably all the while knowing they were going to thin the herd. Horrible.
 


















This company doesn't follow industry standard. I think the layoffs last year reps were given 1 week for every year or 6 weeks, whichever was more. I could be wrong though.

The reps that were laid off last August were given a choice of either: (1) 6 weeks pay plus vacation to leave immediately; (the "one week for every year" was not an option) or (2) the PIP, with plateaus for the end of August and the end of September. Failure to meet the PIP was immediate termination, with NO severance, no outplacement services and insurance to the end of the month. Period. All a total crock!

This company has never followed any industry standards. They make up the rules as they go, and this time will not be any different. But wait! There's more! They will figure out a way to wriggle of of the WARN law. And that's not just and industry standard. It's the LAW!!

How can Ofirmev grow if you get rid of 1/3 of sales force? I think your info is wrong. There are only about 260 total reps now!

I hope you are being very sarcastic. What a dumb statement. You don't grow a drug just by having more reps on the street. There are too many reps for one drug. We were never meant to get OFIRMEV anyway and Xartemis was a complete failure. Now they go to plan B and eliminate the OSS division. If you Care not to believe, then just do nothing and deal with the aftermath later.

Wow. What an insulting pig. Whiny and lazy huh? I can't speak for all the OSS reps, but the ones my team have had the "privilege" of working with have had zero hospital experience, never use their iPads, and in many cases have already caused problems in the territories including hospital and surgeon complaint calls Into corporate. So please stop it with the insults. I'm quite sure if you had a bunch of reps try to start taking over your territories you have been working and developing you wouldn't be happy either. No account on the planet Earth want more than one rep calling on them.
 






Very true. HSS team when Cadence had it made. Then they get bought by MNK and their whole world get turned upside down, beginning with the price increase. Then they get reps that for the most part, don't have hospital experience, and are forced to share accounts and surgeon targets. The OSS team before always worked their territories alone, and were also placed in an awkward situation. None of this has been an optimum selling experience, and from the view of the clients looks and feels like a hodgepodge management fiasco. The root of the issues comes from Xartemis being a massive flop - which we predicted from the first time we heard what Xartemis was. There should always have been an alternate plan for if Xartemis didn't take off. MNK's plan has always been to just get rid of people.

Oh, and the undercurrent to it all was the hope that MNK would be purchased and in the end would be the select few would take off with their stocks and bonuses and the new company would inherit the incompetence. Ha ha and that never happened.
 






OSS has always overestimate their capabilities - now as part of a team they have a lot to learn. Most of our challenges are the ones who insist they know everything even when nothing is working. Try learning.
