Dave Hass

The bloodbath is over and Merck, in its infinite wisdom, has retained Dave Haas as CTL over some far more deserving, outrageously competent managers. This will not bode well for the new team and, conspicuously, has Sadowski’s signature all over it. The third party vendor selection process is obviously false. Haas has been reported to HR several times for numerous violations. One of his recent teams conducted an intervention as a last resort before reporting him to HR. He isn’t capable of an original thought or creative idea and likes to “borrow” from others. He is a management bully using, threats, intimidation and ultimatums. His micro managing is time consuming, brutal and mind numbing. He follows policy where he sees fit, or not. Haas has no concept of true leadership or setting a great example. Other than his hand selected pets (all female) Dave’s team can barely restrain their contempt. Doctors and their staff despise him therefore reps are limited as to the offices they can take him to on field visits. When Haas came over from Schering several years ago (he has NOT been with Merck for 30 years) the managers here were warned about him. Countless rumors of management conflict and bickering with him abound with past and present CTLs. None of his peers respect him and he is the source of many deserved jokes. He has been the ruin of many a fine career at Merck. Although some of the separations were warranted, Haas deprived a lot of WONDERFUL PERFORMERS of recognition, promotions and VP Awards. The competition has benefited accordingly. For those of you placed recently under Haas, get your resumes updated and your Linked In profiles polished and get out! This guy is going to be the bane of your existence until you do.

“The blood bath is over”
That is your first mistake. The bloodbath will continue, did your forget the words of your leader?
Frazier stated very clearly that layoffs are the new normal for our industry. The so called blood bath has been and will continue. The direct sales force will consist of specialty representatives only by 2020 and all PC representatives will be contract.

Your comments regarding the manager are only typical for Merck and the industry in general. The sales representative position is essentially useless. Management has nothing else to do but micromanage reps. Don’t worry, they will be gone by 2020 as well.

It’s been stated on here Previously that if your under 50 and expecting a career here you are a fool.

Everyone still at Merck must realize 3 things: Merck HR exists for Merck not the individual employee (think risk management); Merck HR is an arm of Merck legal; Merck HR/legal love managers like the one Above. It’s up to you if they deserve your time and talent.....

Look you hate the guy. I don’t know him but I know several like him. Douche bag, giant ego and inadequate in reality. I’m sure his home life is a wreck with his flaccid performance issues he displaces to those he holds positional authority over.

I’m here to provide you a simple fix. Three of you reps get together at a local watering hole and have a few beers. Agree that at the last district meeting he instructed you to tell your customers that Januvia halts the progression of diabetes. When you pushed back he threatened you with the possibility of being displaced. Contact HR and the Ombudsman and share this with them. Legal will interview you and within 30 days he will be terminated. Don’t feel bad. Life is not fair. He does this crap to you guys now you push back.

i have heard about Dave Hass. Why would a company keep him? He is nothing less than a bully. I worked with him at bayer. Totally a HR issue. I hope someone stops his behavior

KOrnaks daddy was an orthodontist in Chicago west suburbs.... to straighten teeth of teenagers he PULLED out perfectly healthy teeth to make room to make a straight smile instead of waiting. No wonder he bragged about getting people's braces off quicker! How do I know? He yanked out TWO of my 13 year old teeth. NOw as an adult I have beautiful BIG gaps in my smile. LIke father, like son-- take the short cuts in life and sell half truths.... best of luck to you Merkies (only the good ones)

Correct on all counts.
