Which of the two sites will be eliminated first, any one?

Reno stopped at MF, shift of infectious to SP is in the works
If true, they are going to need to bring all, or many of the scientists down to NJ, because my understanding is that they only work on HCV, and in a limited fashion in basic. They can't have the capacity to keep HIV, HCV and Antibacterial&antifungal in play??? Please clarify any SP people that know the size of the ID franchise in basic at SP....

This has been the rumor for quite a while. I'd be suprised if MF remained a "New Merck" site in the future.

Very little infectious disease work in Kenilworth now. In the past, a substantial effort but 'new management' gutted it, pretty much gone by 2004. Company would look at in-licensing but nothing to talk of for in-house developed.
Some work on anti-viral but again, essentially nothing on anti-bacterials.
The problem is the Merck Frosst has zero expertise in virology!
Compared to who? The 10 people in NJ that do? It's drug discovery stupid - you need a few figure heads who set up the collaborations and guide the ship. ID is by far the easiest franchise to do drug discovery in - bar none. They can discover small molecules to targets better than anyone. Period.
