da Vinci Xi

So let me guess... the 3 Si systems that my hospital bought no more than 2 years ago after being told (by the Capital people) that it was future ready for the next 10 years... are now... not. Way to go saying anything to make a sale. Karma is on its way...

We're gonna give trade-in credits on Si systems.

Let me see if I understand:

1. We have 3 robots... that will all be worth about half what we paid for them on a trade in... worse than a used car dealership ISI.
2. The inventory of 11 trays and 5 back ups in peel packs are now worthless.
3. Have 13 total sets of scopes... again useless.
4. Chole cost (as lean as we can drive it) is still 600+ more than standard lap
5. Performa was reached 18 months over predicted plan for initial Si systems
6. The newer reps you have are hopeless when it comes to speaking performance and the capital guys who sold us the first systems are no longer with your company
7. Division meetings will be taking place for 2nd half budgets soon.
8. Every hospital in the area has a robot now.

Let me guess. Now you are going to come to each of us and tell us how great of an opportunity this is and how we can now differentiate, yet again, with advanced technology.

News flash... There is no one left to train that has the volume... no surgeon I would want doing Single Port chokes because some I would not trust opening a pickle jar.
Good luck.

don't forget a dedicated single port robot is in the pipeline. So now you have to keep track of 3 robotic inventories. What's not to love?

it appears to have a new pt cart and vision tower.
the instruments look diff and the scope and cam head look entirely diff.
Looks slick but,
How much to replace your present accts inventory including scopes?
has to be average 500k to completely redo all.
How much will 2 of 3 components cost? easy 1.5 mill. So we are at 2 million already for upgrading, For what reason?

Most of my accounts are seriously entertaining going to reusable cannulas!
At least this will give my mgr something else to focus on instead of no one wanting to train (er ehem, my inability to sell)

Ducati isn't the answer. ISI (and Titan if that solution is ever commercialized) is missing the mark. The market wants a less expensive multiport robot/procedure for complex surgery. There is already enough blow back using the Si for single port surgery for choles and simple hysterectomies. How many hospitals are going to line up to spend new capital for a dedicated single site robot? Better MP instruments, better integration of visual technologies, manage the cost. Not sure if the Xi fits this model yet or not. The first couple of quarters will be critical.

Ideally you may be correct, but who is coming out with a less expensive multi-port robot? Not ISI and not Titan. Intuitive owns multi-port and i don't see that changing. Hospitals will have to choose from whats available.
