criminalizing sex outside of marriage

This is why Fundamentalism of any kind needs to be fought tooth and nail.

A couple of years ago, a British woman was raped I believe in the United Arab Emirates when she was on a holiday with her boyfriend over the Christmas / New Years week. She reported it to the local authorities. Not only did she not get justice, she was arrested for having non-marital sex with her boyfriend in their country. As far as I know, she's still in jail there.

What I do in my home with adults who consent should not be the province of government. Believe it or not, I'm smart enough to manage my life, I don't need the government to tell me what to do.

Jonathan Edwards (Sunshine go away today) had the best take on this I've ever heard:

he can't even run his own life
i'll damned if he'll run mine

So, to sum up this thread - The guy is nuts for even proposing something so inane. It will never happen . . . But it is a bit frightening to think that there are actually people out there who think it can.

The guy's not jealous. He's just smarter than you are Vag!

The evidence is clear, the further away we get from traditional ie Christian morality, the worse our society becomes. "Anything goes" is not a way to have a successful society. Individual choices add up to have societal impact.

Everybody likes sex. Everybody wants to get off, but sex is like fire. It can heat your home or burn your house down. You do have to be careful with it.
There is a correlation: Gay 90's--anything goes. 00's and teens--austere. Roaring twenties--anything goes. 30's and 40's depression, war. 50's--morality the ter rule, family life. 60's on--pretty wild and wide open. Waiting for the other shoe to drop again.

BUT, cannot legislate morality. People have to choose to be moral, etc. It has been tried many times but always fails. Makes people even more determined to be 'bad'.

People need and want to fuck and they can't be legislated or talked out of it. It's as natural as the sun coming up in the morning.

Wow! How long did it take you to come up with this brilliant insight, Dr. Kinsey?

Oh, know what else is as natural as that a sun coming up? A host of STDs which come along with promiscuious sex.

Yeah, I know I'm such a buzzkill for bring up something like reality aren't I?

But hey, look on the bright side. I didn't quote your post in my reply!:D

Interesting insight. The cyclical thing is definitely in play.

Just one thing though. We CAN legislate morality. We do it all the time. That's what law is for the most part is. It's just that legislation doesn't stop people from engaging immoral and illegal acts. No law does, but that doesn't mean the law doesn't have value. Break the law and get caught and you get punished for a moral transgression. Works great!

Oh, and you owe me an apology.

And that tribe in the middle of the rainforest is such a horrible example of immorality. . . give me a break. It's all about choices, transparency, balance and consent. Some people just have no moral compass and very poor communication skills. I will say that I know of some people who cannot and never will be monogamous. They do seem programed different. One man that I'm thinking of is one of the best men I know - he makes up for his playfulness in droves. I would marry him just as he is and I think his wife feels similarly or she would have booted him out years ago. Each to his own I say. Government has no place in the bedroom. But hey, I'm for legalized drugs too.

Ahhh, the tribe in the middle of the rainforest - good example. Shouldn't
they burn forever in hell for not finding Jesus? LOL!

Vag, you're the one headed to Hell to burn forever for rejecting Jesus. You know about Him, even been "witnessed" to by Christian that you "approve" of, so you have no excuse. Turn or burn, buddy, turn or burn!

I had a guy working for me back years ago and I found out that he was having an affair. I fired his ass. If he'll cheat on his wife then he'll fuck me over w/out a single thought.

Exactly, the person having an affair and yakking about it to the point others know it's going on, etc, etc are bad risks. On the other hand, someone who has a friendship with someone of the opposite sex that heats up and develops into something sensual at times yet maintains the friendship part (and especially complete confidentiality) that's a sweet and wonderful thing.

Since no one knows - it's a non issue. Some people aren't capable of this and some are. When you find it, it's a very special thing that endures - with the friendship always there and great sex when the opportunity is perfect.

Word..

This playground is loaded with cheaters...from both sexes. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

How can a human being shit on their spouse like that? I would rather my wife run me over with her camry....than suck the mailman's cock...just sayin.

Among others.

Actually, it isn't and many prophets have given instructions on this as a good way to avoid burning in hell. No rules forbid eating pussy or giving blowjobs so I say to you my children, "Go forth, get down tonight, make a little love, have some fun!"

If you aren't wiiling to tell your spouse what you are doing then you know it is wrong. Everyone gets tempted. That is normal, but for some there are biggerbthings than immediate gratification. I guess that concept is lost on some.
