So Shire has sent a letter from their legal Dept to all eye care companies telling them we have all signed a non-compete agreements and are not to be contacted.
Funny how they poached most of us from eye care companies, but get pissed if someone leaves to go to another eye care company. Also, aren’t they misleading potential employers because the non compete says for similar drugs? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by their lack of ethical behavior.

Where the hell have you been the last few months? This did this first with Dompé, then a few who went to Kala...now with those leaving for Eyepoint. It's all a bunch of BULLSHIT! They didn't do this back in April last year with all the people that left for aerie and sun. They are just scared shitless bc people want to GTFO

Only the origional hires signed non compete
 






I haven’t heard of Shire actually executing anything. They threatened to with a few people but with change of control (Takeda) and Takeda CEO listing Xiidra as a non-core asset and to be divested soon; they can’t legally restrict people from leaving. I’m leaving in March and am not concerned (and neither is my attorney)!
 






Fake news people. Not one lawsuit was served. Some got warning letter but again NO ACTION FOLLOWED and those were ones that had a future in dry eye. Not one deposition or lawsuit. If I get mine from Eyepoint I'm just filing in a drawer. New company with Takeda. Won't be served papers and wouldn't hold up in a court of law as new ownership of company and no guaranteed future

You people are talking about a garbage product for a stupid disease state. Dry eye. Seriously? Who cares. All the promises that OBU would be taking on real eye diseases has unraveled. Congrats on going to your next interview as a PC rep with an inflated salary. They totally lied to you. If you’re still here and not looking, DUMB
 






Looking for an honest answer here...do companies really not consider a qualified candidate because of a non compete? Didn’t shire overlook that when building the OBU with so many people coming from other eye care companies?

This is accurate. Legally, Shire has no right to prevent you from earning a living in the area of your skills. They will not go after reps who land jobs at competitors. They can and will at times exercise the DNC for senior level executives which is why they get the big severance packages, to cover the six months to a year they are out.

Go for any job you wish, don’t worry! And for God’s sake, don’t repeat the mind-numbing mistakes the leadership did here. Learn from these assholes.

My vindictive manager tried to fire one of my former colleagues for leaving to a competitor AFTER they quit. So just be aware. They still got their bonus and everything.

Just because your manager is a prick, doesn’t make it legal. Remember, PS and KK have been sued for the shit they try to pull and their companies have paid out on it too.
 






I left to go to another eye care company almost a year ago. They tried sending the letter to my new company as well. Not competing with Shire/Xiidra. Just trying to help docs save people's sight. I got my bonus, unused vacation pay, etc. Don't let them try to scare you from making a living. Good luck out there!
