Conned Altrus







Corasanti reiterated in the investor conference call that he sees between $5-10M in Altrus sales in 2012. The only reason he gives is the market is so huge. Now that is sophisticated analysis! This company will never sell more than $5M in a single year....and will lose accounts as soon as they are converted to competing technologies with very large sales teams.

$5-10M? Given the time and expense it took to make the thing, should it even have been done in the first place? My God, we just love getting in on the tail end of the curve and having our asses kicked.
 






I can tell you right now that I do not look forward to this year. Knowing how SM motivates, it is going to be an awful year with this high of expectations. I wish we had a leader that would motivate us by paying us, rather than just writing everybody up. We are paid less than Applied reps now. SM has destroyed the moral of this company.

1. Customers are happy or content with Ligasure, Gyrus or Enseal
2. We bring no added value clinically or economically.
3. The market is saturated for the most part, we have to replace existing competitive hardware already in place.
4. Competition has full array of handpieces
5. Now Ethicon and Gyrus (and maybe Valleylab) coming out with ultrasonic/vessel sealing combination
6. I'm being told by value analysis committees "if you can't prove your better or cheaper you're not invited to even have Altrus evaluated..."

Is everyone seeing this? My manager is trying to tell me a bunch of BS.
 






Yes, and wait till you try and go up against reprocessing. Covidien is coming out with wireless, and Ethicon is coming out with articulation. We are too far behind to catch up.

I wish I could argue with this. So dead-on perfect.

There is no added clinical value and it's not our fault. We're just trying to fight physiology at this point. Thermal spread is reasonably well-contained in all the systems and we all hit the 7mm barrier in terms of vessel size. The only economic case to make is that the revenue would go in our pockets instead of COV/JNJ/Gyrus.
 












i got two key surgeons interested....wanted it. Others would follow them...however, after the evaluation it went to VAC and got shot down. Surgeons admitted no clinical or economic value added. Sucks.
 


















Someone tell me they're having significant success with this product albatross....I mean Altrus....:) Seriously, surgeons and materials managers seem really content with what they're using and albatross offers no clinical or financial value. Who's converted even one competitive account?

It's tough. The only real thing that can set it apart is price, with which we have very little flexibility. It's a nice product, but it would have been nice to have five years ago.
 






If DM and SM would give better competitive pricing I would of closed 2 accounts by now. But they refused to go below the 60% gross margin that they have promised JC on this product. This is why the product will not succeed along with those two morons running the show. Wake up JC, JD & RS!!!! It's not too late!!!
 






I have "closed" 2 accounts but the boxes were "no charge" and I'm not seeing any usage. They're still using Ligasure. Altrus sits in the equipment room collecting dust. This doesn't bode well.

But hey...when the blue moon comes out and the hospital orders a box of handpieces, DM and SM will meet their target of that 60% GP on their price point. Never mind the corporate loss for the upfront, idle capital that everyone patted themselves on the back when it got placed...I mean "sold".

Don't worry...your Performance Plan is months away. In the mean time maybe the Grim Reaper, er Sean, can come to your territory and "help" you. No one can bring the Sunshine to an account like SM... Kind of reminds me of Lurch from the Adams Family
 


















The insanity continues under the regimen of DM and SM! It will be two years this July that I have been part of this circus. I have already been put on an action plan along with 10 other reps because we have been unsuccessful selling this product. If you review many of these post you will have the reasons why we have been unsuccessful. How can you run a division like this? Shouldn't DM and SM be put on an action plan???
