Company culture at BI

This was a once good company. But it is desperate to play in the big boy Pharma sandbox! The company discovers, develops and has brought to market some really good products. The problems begin when they try to market them. This company is so behind the times and really seems lost! For example the company just went through a realignment and the party company suggested portfolio selling and put up to 6 reps in one territory. The company is gearing up for another because now there are two many managers and specialty and hospital have yet to be realigned.
Separately the company has a new PTO policy. If you use all your PTO in 2013 and have nothing to roll over into 2014 then you start 2014 with no PTO. Every pay period you accrue time. Not 100% sure but I think it's 1.8 hours every pay period. So the bottom line is if you have no bank to start the year pray that you, your spouse or kids don't get sick!
On the good side the company has many product launches in the wings and I guess we all have to weigh the positives and negatives at this company. I hope this was helpful.

Company was once good. Now it is a battle of DM vs Rep. Everyone is status quo and does the minimum. You are labeled if you try to sell. Reach and frequency model and way too many reps getting sigs for same meds. No innovation. This place is good for the pregnant Mom or incompetent loser who can't think outside the box.

This is an accurate assessment. BI is a "top-down" organization that values conformity over innovation. If you stick to the script, take care of the paperwork and like to kiss your bosses' ass, you should be fine here. If you have a brain, run away from BI... The company is on a down hill slide.

What don't you understand about a "CIA"? One rep selling off label can cost any pharma company millions of dollars (and that could cost a lot of us our jobs). We are over regulated...period. I, for one, count my blessings: private company means we're not having to change focus quarterly to please shareholders; broad pipeline reduces need for large layoffs; and, we are paid VERY well (if you don't agree, talk to one of your friends who's not in pharma) and in an industy that's been downsized and downsized, there are a lot of qualified people who would love to trade places with us. Please remember, You are the only person who determines your attitude.

BI's 'culture' is just like any other Rx company. There are good people here and there are douche bags. We have some good products and a couple dogs. Pipeline seems pretty strong, but that is at mercy of FDA.

Pay here is ok. We're not highest paid nor are we lowest. PTO, even with new changes, is still pretty generous. Now requires a little more planning.

Speaking of planning, it seems like this is all we do now.....plan plan plan. I'm all for planning, but maybe we could 'implement' from time to time? I vote for less planning and more doing.

We do tend to waste a lot of $$$, and this waste is not something that is in alignment with our 'leaders' initiative.

What does too many reps have to do with CIA? You are a complete idiot. You belong at BI. Classic.

If you looked at the post I was responding to, it said nothing about too many reps. The complaint was regarding "how" we are told to sell. Your hostility is misplaced, at best, and is more likely a sign of mental deficiency. I'm glad to have my job at BI...I hope you don't work here.

I am glad you are glad because you could never work a real job you BI sample dropper. I see you getting your signature. What a winner! Are your parents proud of your career choice?

Wow, well reasoned and stated.

Yes, they were, and I am. If you are not in the same role, and if you don't work for BI...but you're spending your time here making snarky comments to people you know nothing about, are your parents proud of the type of person you turned out to be? I bet not

My parents are real proud. All the way back to the ripe old age of 2 I wanted to be a Pharma Trainer. Now, that is what I do. I train pharma reps to engage doctors in conversations about disease states then to handle any objections and point them to key studies that can answer their important questions.

The culture changed when Paul and Bob Johnson took over. It is still a good job, but the atmosphere is one of not trusting anybody. Other companies are similar. As in any big comapny, politics become a part of getting ahead or keeping your job. That was not the case when the company was smaller. Also, in the past, if your sales were good, your manager flexed with you. That is not the case now. Competencies have become more important.

Now I get it...like the saying goes, "those who cant do...teach" (or "train" in your case) there is a reason why so many trainers are not respected by their counterparts in the real world. And that explains your difficulty understanding my comments. Oh, you didn't answer, are you at BI? Otherwise there is still something wrong with you for spending time at this site.

Tell us, what do you "do" that this said trainer cannot do. It's a ridiculous saying as any of the trainers I have come into contact with at BI have been top notch. I am not a trainer, have 0 desire to be one, and don't know any if them personally. But remind us again how great you are at what you "do"?

It was a joke you moron.

Does BI have a designated clone that now responds to social media? If you are a professional salesperson, BI is bottom rung. Use it to get another job. Only say what you need to during training and don't show an original thought. Go 2 and out. Two years, move on.

BI has a ingrained self-rewarding cult of mediocrity.

OK, next question, have you ever had any sales training before? BI's trainers are nice people, but their are trainers, not salespeople.
