Company car vs car allowance

heard next cycle option will be chevy impala, chevy Malibu, Chevy mini van and Prius. Car allowance is going away. All cost cutting measures to prepare for onslaught of bio similars.

Ah shucks - that made my day with shitty fleet cars and onslaught of biosimilars meaning RIF. Onc reps - look what happened to Lucentis reps a year ago when their franchise was under "attack". Moving on out of country club lifestyle...

I made a bad choice. I passed up a job at BMS in Oncology. Their cars are high end. Same salary too. I cannot believe Genentech offers such crappy cars.

Cars USED to be high end Audi (A3, A4, Q5 for managers) and Volvo (loaded S60 and XC60 for managers), I heard that Audi and VW got kicked out the program due to the dieselgate with fleet cars value plummeting. Also used to offer loaded Jeep Cherokee and Ford Explorer and many liked Subaru station wagons.

Now POS Camry and ugh prissy Prius. Once saw a license frame that read "real men drive prius". LOL

The Mercedes is a choice and you know what? It's frickin' awesome. Ask your friends that aren't in sales what they pay per year on car payments, insurance, gas and repairs. Still want to complain?

Considering what the unknown is for BMS, if your decision was made on the free car you will drive, then you shouldn't be here either. By the way, there is are company car or car allowance options which BMS doesn't provided the overall benefits here make BMS look like a third world employer. I was there so I know.

Wouldnt that be interesting. Would we even consider a purchase like that??

LOL - you Onc reps have indeed too much time on your lazy ass country club lifestyle bitching about fleet cars and now a stupid wish of Roche buying BMS (ain't gonna happen aholes!) as many of you will get FIRED. Want proof? Now how many of you aholes got fired during pharma acquisition binges decade ago?

Agree that a free car is nice. However, the pos Benz we get isn't worth the star emblem on it. Gutless wonder, crappy handling and a disaster in the snow. The rear end is ugly as fuk and for an SUV has dik for cargo room. As many auto mags have stated, this model is the ultimate 'wannabe poser mobile'. Gets blown away by a 12k Hyundai accent. Avoid the glamour and drive one before ordering, trust me! Hey fleet, bring back the Audi 2.0's minus the diesel. Get your shat together, and no more lesbo Subies either.

Yep MB's cheapest CLA and GLA are real turds and dissed by most auto mags and buyers. So MB unloads the boatload of unsold GLAs to fleets. Your Hyundai comparison is on the dot as CLA/GLA and Accent share SAME engine.

I rented CLA hatchback version in France and the interior and its build quality is on par with Accent (also rented when dealership was out of Volvo loaners) and thought is was a diesel as engine wouldn't rev unless punched the accelerator. Handling and ride sucked too. As for Audis - I'll settle for A3 1.8T!

i was speaking with fleet/Wheels at NSM this year and it is clear we will only have pussy hybrid cars going forward. If it doesn't get 35+ mpg, it won't be considered except for the all wheel drive option for those in the snow states. It sounds like they want to squeeze as many as possible out the allowance program by reducing the monthly allowance further if you drive something that doesn't get at least 27.5 combined mpg.
Bill A is on a cost cutting initiative to impact the bottom line, the allowance/mileage program is at the top of his list as an easy fix.

Trying to decide if I should do allowance or fleet. What is the policy on personal use of a fleet vehicle?
Thanks!

I have my offer.... I am just trying to do my homework before my orientation! No need to be so cranky!

Good for you but you may be chopped off when the cost cutting blades come your way sometime 2017 and may be soon since 2016 bonuses are paid.

Be very careful as dog eat dog days may be around the corner...

No company bonus this year due to 340B - this will only continue to erode into bottom line earnings -
