College Football: Will the SEC "6 Peat"

I think linus is a KY fan from southern ohio and is just pissed that they had a losing year. He seems a little obsessed with the program.
love go back to ohio dot com!

I love this thread. I have been following it closely since the beginning of the season. As an ex-D1 football player, no not from the SEC, and a current Pharma Rep, no not for GSK, it is awesome that the thread that gets the most hits on CP is about college football and whether or not the SEC will 7 peat. Everything was set in place till the quacks went and F-ed it up by losing to Stanford. At any rate, I am pulling for ND. I do not want to see 3 national championships by Alabama in 4 years, however, it would be awesome to say I saw the great days of bama in the late 2000's. Whatever happens, i have no skin in the game. I just wanted to drop a line to say that with all the BS that this board is about, all the BS pharma sales can entail sometimes, it is great that Americas greatest sport gets the most attention than any other, possibly more pressing, subject line does. Great job and GO IRISH!

Nice to see from someone else other than the OP who has 99% of his own posts on this string. You can see he has NO team to even root for. Than must be sad. I don't have any "skin" either. I guess I see it as a "win" either way since I am an Ohio St. alumn, and you know the only poll we are allowed to be ranked in is the AP. (thanks to super Tress-how idiotic of him----why would we have hired a coach from a D2 school anyway??? Tress to Urban-i would say a major step up needless to say!)
I say no skin cause if alabama wins then osu would be the only undefeated team in the nation which is cool. However, if ND wins, osu leapfrogs bama and ends up 2nd in the nation from #3 where they currently are. I just find it so amazing how I have followed college fb so long and so avidly, but had severely underestimated the "power" of coaching. At the start, I predicted an 8-4 season and would have been impressed/happy. How in the heck can a new staff take the EXACT same players with NO new recruits playing at all and go from 6-7 to 12-0. Just read this morning about Boren going to see Meyer as a captain telling him the team was "worn" from grinding as Meyer calls coaching & practice. Boren said they all had tired legs. (after the 3rd win.) Meyer said "get back to the grind because I have done this b4 and trust me, I know what I am doing." wow. Players were climbing stairs backwards on their butts. could not walk up a flight. I also LOVE Urban's strategy of being very honest with players and telling them about their realistic future. eg-Verlon Reed who started at wideout in 2011 for our "interim" losing 36 yr old failure of a coach----did not play at all for Urban. They had a "sit down" and came to a "mutual agreement." verlon left. Opens up another schollie. Tress would never have done that. I love it. It is a very fair thing for the athlete! some kid at FL complained about it and Urban. loved the reply. Urban said "who??!! never heard of the kid. i know he didnt play for me, or if he was on the team he wasnt important enough to remember." kid should have kept his mouth shut. all urban was doing was being honest with him. he wasnt kicking him off, just telling him he could enjoy the 4:45 am workouts, vomiting in huge 55 gall. drums and never see the field. I would want to know!! I would move on too!
Enjoy the games my friend. They will be interesting. I am particularly interested to see how GA (2nd in the sec as you know) sizes up vs Nebraska. OSU laid 63 on em and GA is supposed to be 2nd in this super power conference. They should be able to pop 70+ on em. we will see. NB has nothing and Pelini (as much as i liked him when he played safety at osu) he is way over his skiis. He would be a nice secondary coach for osu but wanted the job Urban got. No way. OSU had that plan lined up one month after Urban lft FL. One yr in the ESPN booth and he was moving to Upper Arlington. Home of speilman, ex home of woody, herbstreit et al. herbie got death threats and had to move to nashville. there is some real trash in south columbus. nutzoids. death threats on a commentator. come on. he was a captain at osu and so was his dad. that is sad. they are everywhere. every school has the super nuts who cannot control themselves. I would not mind seeing ND take it to em with those new gold extra shiny helmets. very cool. cyclical football. trad powerhouses are coming back. watch for TX, USC and others. new ones too. Oregon is sweet. sort up tempo huh???

Damn Linus........ You poor SEC envy bastard.

Enjoy the 7 Peat

New Orleans -January 4, 2011
Terrelle Pryor andd four of his teammates won't be able to play another game for Ohio State until October. They'll have some good memories to tide them over during the long layoff.
Pryor threw two touchdown passes, helping the No. 6 Buckeyes build a big lead, and Solomon Thomas made an interception with 58 seconds remaining to seal
Ohio State's first postseason win against a Southeastern Conference school, 31-26 over No. 8 Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night.

FORGOT YA DON'T HAVE CABLE
2-10

Linus you poor bastard. Ohio is officially 0-11 vs the Sec. If you really want to count the Ark game go right ahead. 1-10 still bites ass. Enjoy the Sec 7 peat.

I wish Ohio was BCS eligible. I sure miss Mr Sweater Vest taking his 12-0 teams to the national title game. I really enjoyed watching the SEC pummel Ohio on those head to head NC games.

ESPN final conference rankings:

1. SEC 2. Big 12. 3. PAC 12 4. Lil 1o 5. Acc 6. Big East

Lil 1o much closer to the Acc and Big east than the SEC and Big 12.

Enjoy the 7 Peat

WRONG. You have such a knack for conveniently forgetting major points that show the weaknesses of ohio football.

Sweater vest only knew how to cheat.

Here's a summary in case you don't know how to use a mouse...

"The Ohio State University Department of Athletics has vacated all football wins during the 2010 season, including the 2011 Sugar Bowl"

It's not Ohio State football if you aren't cheating.

I enjoy watching the SEC pummel ohio in ANY bowl game - last year's gator bowl, outback bowls, citrus etc. The post season just doesn't feel the same without watching ohio get it's dose of reality from an inevitable SEC beat-down.

Big 10 is weaker than Pac 10, Big 12 and the SEC. Ill, Ind, Iowa, Minn and Purdue are all ranked worst than 60. That is before they went 5-2 in bowls. Nice NW got a win, the first since 1949 and Mich St won on a late field goal after trailing TCU a newcomer to the Big 12. Don't think big 10 won a bowl game in 2011 or 2010. Lastly Ohio St has a schedule that is ranked 51...all the sports writers have to vote for somebody. Look it up there are many homer votes that make no objective sense.

ND vs AL is nice matchup. Not so sure we will have a true champion till we get some sort of playoff. Not bashing anybody, but it is somewhat subjective, last year OK St should have gotten a shot and this year Oregon (4 straight BCS bowls, and only lost in OT to Stanford) has a case.

Ahhhhh you mean 2-5 I take it. Oregone got their shot vs LSU last year and got dominated on a neutral field. They also lost to Auburn year before. 0-2 last 2 years vs SEC.

Crazy thing about NC game tonight is you have undefeated and #1 ranked ND as a 10 point underdog to #2 BAMA. BAMA should put the beat down on them no prob.
