CEO Mike Ball

For those of you on this board who loathe HSP and want it to fail, Mike Ball is your worst nightmare. When he addressed the U.S. Commercial Organization at the National Sales Meeting, it was spellbinding. There were about 10 fist pump moments. People can't wait to follow him. He's candid, energetic, smart, charismatic, realistic and driven. Everybody that was in the room when he spoke agrees with that. Get your HSP shares while they are cheap. They are tripling within 5 years. Begley gave the naysayers plenty of ammunition over the years with his small thinking and they've had a good time on this board. He "Fueled" the company in to chaos. But that's over. Enjoy the pending recovery and expansion. It is going to be a great experience if you like being part of something that is successful and growing. If you'd rather bitch, you're going to have a hard time finding a receptive audience at the new HSP.

I hope that is true. I think it will take some time though. There is a lot of damage to turn around.

Stop being so self righteous. I don't think people loathe Hospira they are just frustrated with the way things have been going. Everyone wants to be successful and would like the company to be successful. Even top management admits that some poor decisions have been made. Now is time to turn it around for everyone. I personally feel much better knowing that they are ackowleging the problems. That is the first step.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, it is just words, pretty as they may be.

Don't get too excited just yet- NO ONE wants HSP to fail. Mike Ball said a lot of good things but talk is cheap so I am taking wait and see attitude. Also there are so many jerks in middle and lower level management that it may take a long time for changes to be felt below pay grade 18. Essentially managements attitude has been steal from their reports. I know that since the spin those not in management have seen a real drop in wages and benefits at the same time management has gotten fat off of our backs. Incentives in sales have gotten smaller and smaller every yr. as have the cars (Prius). As to Sean being the real deal as was posted by another - he's the "real deal" alright the "cheesy Deal" going forward I think that may be a good nick name for him just call him the " Cheesy Deal" or the Big Cheese

I heard in the investor conference call, Mike Ball mention they have hired 150 consultants to fix the problems in Rocky Mount.

I wonder if this is the same ones that consulted them on making the cost cutting moves in 2009?

What a joke.

So Mike Ball used to sell Botox if I understand correct. So you have to be the type of person that is able to give false impressions to sell that stuff. Right? I mean botox is for those who want to look younger but really aren't. He was also a big fan of Project Fuel, Lean, Kool-aid, whatever. We all know how that works out.

Now he's hiring an army of consultants (see a patern here?). Could someone please tell me what all these over paid management people are for? We have Plant manager, Quality director, Quality VP, Quality Associate VP, Quality Associate of the associate. They are around the situation all day. Can't they make hard decisions or do they just wet their pants when asked to?
Instead they hire a bunch of kids fresh out of college that have no real life experience in running a manufacturing facility so they can tell them what looks good on paper, then screw everything up.
Hey Mike.......If you really have any balls, all you have to do is get rid of the people that don't speak english or understand it in writing. Spend money on regular maintenance (paint, repair floors, worn out equipment, etc.) Stuff that was cut from the budget during Project Lean (project heist).
Oh....and yes I'm afraid spending money on those things might eat into all you spinless directors bonuses.
How much money is wasted on these consultants? Give me a break. If management doesn't know how to fix the problems then obviously they are incompetent.

These actions are a clear sign of the direction this company is going in. BEWARE!!!!

Consultants is just another word for buddies, cronies, relatives, etc. If we can't solve our own problems...as the above poster said, then we have piss poor management. I believe that's a foregone conclusion because we wouldn't be in the shape we're in if we had competent mgmnt. Hopefully the Indians will save us once the plant is opened. Until then, I agree....Beware!

"Hey Mike Ball! We are having major quality production problems at RM plant. Your making over 12 million bucks and have 25yrs experience in Healthcare. Your our leader, what should we do"?

Mike Ball: Gee Wally...... I don't know. Let me hire 150 consultants and get back with you.

No wonder Ball(less) gave Begley a "warm fuzzy" send off. There paying him over 12 million. Seems like a bribe considering Mike Ball(less)has never had any CEO experience.

How honest do you think Mr Integrity was with Mike during the interviewing process about all the problems he was leaving behind? Beg's and the board probabally figured that an outsize comp package was just the medicine needed to get Mike to swallow.

A new book is being added to Hospira's library. Going to be placed next to Chris Begley's best seller or con job. Titled "Integrity"

The new one by Mikey is titled "Hope and Change".

Anyone know what firm(s) the new consultants are from? Believe it was McKinsey's priceless advice that made things ssuch a mess.

Quintiles, IHL, ProPharma, Valident, a contingient from Puerto Rico (who spanish almost exclusively) and McKinsey is back for anothr paycheck. There are more and the list expands every week.
