yes, text messages are as big a liability as a bad email. dsi reimburses you for cell service and therefore legally own your words when you talk potty mouth. text only the nice words that you would in an email to our company president, your parents or pastor, once you hit send, you become a liability... and on the compliance radar, now stop whining!

Ever notice if you don't delete text messages on your iPhone that each message has time and date stamps, this should concern you knee jerk biotches that piss and moan to their teammates and management.

Just so you know, text messages are never "deleted" once they are created. They can be deleted from your phone but your wireless provider will have a record of every text and pic (YES PIC) you send. The question is, when do they delete all their stuff? My guess is not very often. This could open up all whole sh#tload of problems for you dirty texters. Whenever you create a message, text, or whatver, ask yourself "would I want my boss, spouse, kids, or parents see what I am creating here?" That's how you should determine what to do!
This is precisely why I don't utilize the cell phone reimbursement.

Don't blame the company. My guess is someone file a lawsuit and ask for all pertinent text messages to the case. They have no choice but to comply. This is the same scenario when they sent you an e-mail about if you have files related to a product that are not destroyed you are to keep them, etc. Not that the company is crazy. The lawyer filing the lawsuit is making them do it. Don't be a paranoid.
What you text is discoverable. If the phone is owned by your employer, its the employer's data and subject to scrutiny. You don't own the system nor the info on it. Misuse of email and texting are among the most common sources for getting oneself in hot water or even fired. Texting SMS in some cases will by-pass the server but if your IT department security did the job the right way, all you have transmitted is already residing on their server. If they are demanding your phones it may be because people's text messages are by by-passig the servers and they just discovered how compromised they may be. Good luck and lesson learned...don't text on company owned equipment.

Well, unless they cover all of your cell bill they don't own/have rights to jacksh*t. My bill is in excess of what the company reimbursess. They don't even cover the cost for my airtime minutes. We were told we needed a cellphone for the job but not told we needed text for the job. My texts belong to me so F off!!

I have my wife and kids covered on my plan, not only can I check their texts messages, but I have GPS turned on to track my 17 year olds driving habits from my laptop.
