CAS "directors" need to shrink and/or be eliminated

We all have heard the rumblings from many sales reps. The CAS hires aren't making a difference nor are they selling the product. How can they be considered at the level of a manager? This was yet again a clear directional mistake on the company's part and they are not bringing value. If all the sales reps were surveyed, they would say the same thing.

The company needs to pad and increase the number of MSLs with science backgrounds and possibly keep a maximum of 5 CAS people for contracting-only. The enormous cost of keeping these CAS positions is astronomical especially considering they don't sell OFIRMEV.

The CAS division is a waste. They have done zero!!! All they do is call and ask if you have appointments they can tag along on! Really???? I'm over this!! When they call I ignore it. I have better things to do than try and keep them busy.

I completely agree as well! They are like gnats and can't make appointments for themselves. They have no product responsibility and just talk about the obvious need for multimodal pain management. In my entire career, I have never seen such a useless bunch and a poor choice of money allocation to something that doesn't work or move a product. How are these people directors? Must look important on a resume, but it means nothing. They need to be called out. The internal ones took the job to escape sales and the responsibility that comes with it. The newer ones don't know shit about the product no talk about anyway. What good are they? Yes, get some true medical people on the payroll and drop this faux pas of a division.

The position sounds great on paper in terms of deserving merit, but in reality they make no sense to keep these folks on. Making a periodic call, attending dinners and a conference here and there is not needed. Sales reps are already talking about multimodal as the foundational approach and they really offer nothing more to the party to warrant creating a position for this. In addition, to assume these individuals are at a level of management is a slap in the face to sales reps that are doing far more in addition to what the CAS people attempt to do. The company needs to wake up about this.

I think these positions were a temporary afterthought. There is no way these positions will sustain for the long term. They offer no value and have no additional tools a standard sales rep couldn't handle. It's a disgrace. This is a multi-million dollar expenditure that needs to be stopped.

You're the one who should be embarrassed. I'm now Director level and you're still shit. Once again, it's the CAS you call when you're having contracting problems or problems with a system. You reps are all worthless hypocrites.
Director level !!! Are you serious??? You couldn't direct traffic on a one way street. I've called my CAS director various times and they never have an answer! They have done zero!!!! ZERO!!!!! You are worthless!! This position means ZERO!!!!! Stop calling us to see if we have appointments for you! STOP!!!!!!!!!!

The CAS division needs to eliminated and I agree with need an amped up medical science division. They bring nothing to the table and are a nuisance. There are now instances where they have made thing far worse not better. I think people would take a cut in pay if they only had to do what these directors had to do. No drug dialog and unbranded. What a joke.

I hope senior management reads this. When will Ron and Mike Mathews realize the CAS directors are useless and a waste of company funds? The company only needs to have a few people (literally two) to handle contracts and that's all that is needed. The CAS people are definitely not worth their salaries and are an embarrassment.

So true !!! A total waste!! Please someone read this!!!!!

i dont think they would or could disband this group. They are considered to include some of our top talent and offering them a promotion was i imagine a way to keep them around. I could imagine the number of CAS's be reduced but never eliminated. Maybe make some of them a hybrid HSS the cover specific hospital systems only. Thus allowing them to align more specifically to those systems. They have already changed the position a little by allowing them to be more clinical around ofiremv vs unbranded. CAS's are smart people. We just need to figure out a way to use them in a way to improve sales at a faster pace.

The existing reps that became CAS only took the job to ESCAPE sales and that was a shared comment of three that I know. There may be a few smart CAS people, but the majority are idiots, especially the newer ones. There is not one thing they do that a sales rep shouldn't or couldn't do. The division needs to be scraped and has been a failure from the beginning. We all know this. Your comments lead me to believe either you are a CAS yourself or your opinion is a complete minority here. Period.

i am mostly in agreement with you but saying MNK is not going to abandon this project as most havent been in the roles a year. They will allow more time along with the new products to see where this goes. They will modify it after that if it does not meet their vision but i dont see them walking away from the CAS members completely
In other words they are here to stay so you need to figure out how to all work together.
No, I am not a CAS just a mere mortal.

Problem is that no one wants to work with these idiots and they are of no help and provide nothing to the customers therefore = a huge waste of time.
