west isn't great either! wow, I didn't know it could possibly be worse elsewhere! not sure if I feel better or not? CBS - I like that. crazy bitch syndrome. I think it's contagious.

depends on where you live. Choice of East micromanager SRD, micromanager Midwest SRD, and west. if west, you should be ok. Midwest is miserable. ex phizer primary care. is last in rankings continuously and trying to change everything and make more like Lipitor Primary care. East is just Crazy bitch syndrome manager by SRD. Lots of screaming and PMS.

east srd sets the tone for the region: hysterical nonsensical direction accomplishing little. encourages turnover to help her and the dopey dm's look busy ... pathetic.

East SRD's crazybitch reputation goes well beyond the IHD division. She's a nasty one who has no clue how to manage through example - unless you count tantrums and scowling as successful management tactics. She seems to think that she is the most important crazybitch in the room regardless of who else is there. Only when VP or higher enters the room does she flip a switch and act like a princess - horns and pointy tail under that dress are a dead give away though.

GILD has a history of keeping incompetent CVT legacy people or even promoting them and they show up with week backgrounds and overblown reputations. Crazybitch is no difference. She has a reputation of being nasty even in the home office and this is why she won't be promoted. Being a hatchet woman only gets you so far.

Any other company I've worked for was concerned about turnover. How does "hatchet woman" continue to throw the axe? I'm not in the east, but see high turnover in the west also! Isn't that an area of job responsibility? How are reps held to be accountable, but managers and up can do whatever they want?

Sadly this is how it works, reps first, and If Turning over everyone doesn't work, then go after managers, upper are safe for a long time.

Considering an open position in the cardiology division... Based upon these comments, not sure I want to work here. Can someone who will be mature/rational/unemotional please give some honest feedback.... Here are my questions...1. How big of a micromanager is the manager who lives in Denver? Do her reps like her? 2. How bad is turnover in this region?

I've heard she is the definition of micromanager! In the interview, ask about turnover. Ask how long reps have been with the company. Nothing wrong with being concerned about going with a company and having longevity. Turnover very high. Of course, they will always come up with another reason why people left. But we all know the only reason people leave - because of the manager.

Thank you for the honest answer...but curious, is she micro to those just not hitting #s? I will definitely ask about turnover... I'm not interested in job hopping. Nor working under the microscope...besides that, would you recommend the job here?

It would be nice to think that micromanagment occurs only with those not hitting numbers; but it happens to be that way with all reps. The company is strong, pay is great, benefits great! company does not seem to be concerned with turnover. Recommendation on working here depends on what you need at this time. Ask how long reps have been working in that region? why have they left? do they recognize longevity/anniversaries with company? a common interview question is to ask what previous managers say about them....ask what would reps say about them as a manager?

The job looks great on paper! The division grew by 19% and Letairis is the fastest growing drug at Gilead. Once you get get past the ink, only 1/3 of the reps in the cardiopulmonary division are hitting there goal and making a commission check. The goals are set you can never blow it out.

that is the 'gilead game' - the crazy quotas - no two people have the same - encourages an unhappy district as people aren't performing toward a district goal equally - it you like torture, take the job. you'll hack it for awhile ...

this is all so true; they say they are a performance based company; problem is that the quotas are impossible to hit; makes you feel like a piece of sh**! having a manager controlling your every move doesn't make life any nicer; I've never worked for a company like this before; no one is happy; everyone is always stressed; I really believe that they can still be a perf based company but encourage and motivate rather than threaten.

I am happy to be here. We all have a choice. Let's focus on ourselves and how to make a decent living for our family's well-being. It's not high school. We work for pay. You don't have to have fun all the time. We just have to do our job.

Our attitude defines our altitude. Rise above the stress and you will see that regardless of all else, we are blessed.
