Does everyone recall who all of the WC reps talked about the PG reps being fired. Funny how the world comes back to bite you. I hope Pete in NYC has this memory very clearly etched inside his mind
I guess the big difference between the two scenarios is that when WC bought P&G it was for the product portfolio. When Actavis buys WC it will be for both products and a seasoned sales force in the branded market. Sorry P&G reject- there is no comparison.

Sorry gloom and doom. No one said anything about Actavis firing their own sales force. Their branded sales force is very small and stretched very thin. WC and Actavis will join forces to sell the branded products. Sorry to disappoint you and your trolling advances, this is the wrong site for your hysteria.
There is no "seasoned" WC sales force. Ask HR what the average rep tenure is. Its less than two years, and tis is one of the most poorlu and unethically sales forces in the industry. The reputation of WC is pervasive and wide spread. It is synonomous witjh the term dubious. Actavis DID NOT buy WC for its sales force at all, I challenge you to provide a link to ANY reputable news organization that even suggests this.
Actavis purchased WC for the branded products and nothing else. Tey already have their own "seasoned" sales force. No hard feelings, but NO company acquires another for their employees, NONE! Stop deluding yourself, the layoff at WC will be massive including sales. No company buys another, then keeps the acquired employees while firing their own. This has never happened in the history of corporate america and will not happen now. What happened with P&G reps will happen to WC reps.
You are partly right. But the REAL reason Actavis wanted the dog products (with the exception of Asacol and Actonel) in the portfolio is so they can incorporate in Ireland and decrease their tax rate by 12-15%. This means profit goes up across the board on their existing products. It's not the stellar selling organization, the "Type A Crazy" sales reps (really car or copies sales people disguised as cream puffs), or the inspiring leadership of Roger and his bunch of cronies. It is the tax structure and ability to shelter profits over and out. Don't kid yourselves. It's Roger's out. He'll get paid and then Actavis will get stuck with large fine a few years down the road. Life's not fair but hopefully Roger's plane crashes into Carl's house and they both get what they deserve. Slime bags!
Hey soccer balls, get ready for a kicking. Maybe a goal kick or a corner kick, maybe even a Pete kick. Most likely it will be a kick to the street. How many people did Pete subject to his BS. For someone who claims to be so smart, he is in pharma for 30 years and he is a DM. My nephew in pharma for 22 months is a DM. Kick and a score!!
Peter,
It is not nice to say what you make. That calculation will be used for benefits.
All-Just face the facts. You never thought it would happen to you. Every dog has its day and this dog from 2009 (as the other poster stated) is having a great day. FDA, Dept of Justice and the boys in Boston, the only thing that would add the topping to this sundae would be to hear that Amber is gone!
Is there any truth to the rumor that the entire sales force will be let go once the deal is done?
Hahahaha! Are you kidding me!? 100% of all the sales reps from all 5 divisions being let go!? Do you honestly believe that? That's never happened in the history of Pharma. Probably a 30-40% reduction is realistic. Most coming from Osteo, Women's Health and bulk of Uro. That's what will happen. Both companies will now have an excuse to trim the excess, non performers. Mostly WC, but both companies none the less.
Actually, there have been virtually entire sales forces let go after acquisitions. Valeant has made many purchases over the past few years, and fires most all of the employees of the vanquished companies including reps.
Your point is well taken though. OST reps will be fired and this has nothing to do with being acquired. Its a dog market with dog WC product. URO and WC are also likely to see massive triitory reductions via firings (if territory has a rep) AND attrition (not filling vacant terriitories). Either way between Actavis and WC at least 170 WHC territories will have to be cut, and at least 150 URO territories will have to be cut. You can best believe that the bulk will come from the acquired company. THEY ALWAYS DO and THEY ALWAYS WILL!
