Caldera Sales

The curious thing about Caldera is they are hiring pharma reps, and a lot of them! I think their goal is 85 reps by 2011. Not to knock pharma reps, but endosurgery is not usually the first stepping stone out of pharmaceuticals. Maybe for one or two spectacular reps, but not 85 of them.

Caldera's 2009 revenues were less that $5 million. 85 fully loaded reps (1.5 times income) making $200k/year would cost $25.5 Million. Where is the money coming from? Why recruit pharma instead of medical device and surgery backgrounds?

They don't add up.

I like the math of the above post, however, you have to assume that Caldera is paying everyone at least $130,000 a year. I have been told that in the first 3 months, you can expect to make very little to nothing in commission with months 3-6 (if it clicks) and that after 6 months you "should" be selling about $20-30K a month, which would be about $4-6K a month in commission. I may have the math wrong (commission rate?), But to make $130-150K a year you would have to be selling about $600-700K per year.

The issue I see is there is very little investment by the company in their potential new hires. I think this is why they are hiring Pharma reps as most are looking for a way into the industry. I think most seasoned device reps are shying away because the company does not pay a base salary. Just my 2 cents!

Because they do not pay a base salary, if you have 85 reps making $200,000 a year, the company would go from a $5 Million company to over $100 Million (25% commission). Their comp program is definitely slanted toward the company, but then again, what comp plan is not!

This is the WORST company I've ever worked for!! Even when you make money, the company refuses to pay you. They are dishonest crooks who pretend to have a "management team". Management is nothing more than a bunch of monkeys scratching each other's ass. This company is a turd fading in the rain.

Caldera is sinking fast. No money to keep a sales force. just terminated a large number of outsode sales force including several that were hired just 2 weeks ago. Probably one of the worst companies ever

Yeah, why would train so many people and expand, then fire them all? Why not keep them as contractors, doesn't cost you a dime to do that, you just trained and got reps going, makes no sense to throw the towel in and give up so quickly? Try to keep the ones that are making sales and keeping the company alive!!!

it makes sense if you're bankrupt...or have been lying about the necessity to expand because you're hoping to raise enough cash to show a profit so you can be bought out. The problem is no one is biting the piece of shit bait because the products are about 3 years behind the technological curve, there's debt up to our asses which is why we had to cut people because we can't afford operating expenses, the field force is dejected due to lying about comp plans, changing territory configurations and not paying people..shit, shit and just shit. No company in their right mind would buy this shit company unless they were interested in the building and property at headquarters...hahahahahaha

I'm sad I am affiliated with this company...don't run, sprint away if you're interested in interviewing. There's so much better out there than these corrupt m-fers!

I couldn't agree more...will NEVER be deceived like this again!!!!

Bryon has no idea how to run a company, people there don't know what they are doing, and the New VP of Sales, came back why? lol What a joke, would never work for them again!!!

They haven't paid the employees they let go yet either, what a joke. If I don't get paid by the 7th of June I am going to seek counsel and also report them to every agency humanly possible to get them in trouble, etc.

do not work here. terrible compensation package. seems all current employees are looking for a new job that they could actually like and excel at. big mistake if you work here.

Trying to get some info on this company, looking to break into medical device sales....it seems like all the post from 5+ years ago say that it is a horrible company, going out of business, etc....but they are still around now in 2017....anyone have any recent experience with this company? Good place to get your foot in the door to medical device sales? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Nothing has changed, still a horrible company run by a completely unethical person. This is the last place you want to start a medical device career. Get a good recruiter and look elsewhere. There are plenty of options out there and they are all better than this one.

Thank you for your response, I did not move forward with Caldera. There were several red flags during the interview process that let me know they were not the real deal. Thanks again.
