Interesting how this will shake out. Heard SD/DBM conference call on Monday. Let's face it, we screwed up the last realignment when it came to WHC. We planned for the VMS indication that never happened. As a result, we probably have more reps than we need based on the revenue of the products. In my district, we have 2 WHC reps in a territory for every UR rep. It just doesn't make much sense.

If not now, by 2014 Sales Year when (best case scenario) the only thing left is Lyrica & Eliquis. Though you could make the case that both are Specialty driven meds but nothing yet for CV or Neuro to justify dedicated Specialty Rep for each. Celebrex, Viagra, Spiriva & Pristiq gone, no $$ in Toviaz, PVC, Flector or Chantix. Reps (Contract or otherwise) will be needed in Specialty fields (Onc, Rheum, IS & Vaccines) and the PC bag can end up with entirely Contract force to drop samples, etc.

I heard the same news about prevnar going to primary care....the layoffs are going in different phases and the recent psych rep cuts were phase 1....womens health reps are next and vaccines also

Not to mention whatever else we either make of copromote down the road (AZ deal). Not as bad as it looks. We have been planning for this for a long time. At least we are quick to decide as opposed to waiting for ever back in the day. If you have been here since before 2005, then you know what the deal is. This is not earth shattering or new. It's what has been our normal.
 




The cuts have only somewaht to do about LOE. Our brilliant PCBU leadership is going to turnover these products to Established Products who will then use contract sales forces if needed. Doesn't matter what bag you carry. Starting in 2012 it will be one 3 product bag. Its a crap shoot as to who will remain. Current leadership favors elitists who think gpa = business success as long as the degree also is accompanied by the ability to kiss ass upwards. I have my resume churning.

So, if you're really our "Friend from HQ" then don't be shy about giving us a realistic timeline--are the cuts coming in Q4 or earlier? A lot hangs in the balance for us, especially given the still-weak economy. Also, any insights on how mgt determines who stays and who goes would be helpful!

This is total BS. There is no way all being merged into 1 division. We could see reductions but NO WAY we go to 1 division.
