Yes my DSM is all excited about something different to talk about. She talks about fight or flight response and how I need to see past that and use calm reasoning to handle objections. WTF? Plus we never make it to the point where we have a conversation that leads to an objection. The docs only listen long enough to sign for samples and agree to a lunch. Don't need a brain for that. If we ever lose samples we are toast.

Does anyone remember the time when we had CBDs, RSDs, and DMs who were respected because they had once been in our shoes and could still sell or make sales presentations at meetings? When an RSD would stand in front of us and demonstrate their product knowledge and sales experience. They weren't always perfect but were comfortable enough and respected enough to brave making a mistake. They would sit with us at lunch or dinner and actually listen to our ideas or complaints. When was the last time you heard an RSD or DM stand up for us by challenging the directives coming from HQ? Those people are all gone now or at least I don't see anyone stepping up to take their place.

Announcement this week regarding an executive director's resignation. This one was a long time coming. Heading over to Novartis with the rest of the failures.

We are averaging one departure every two or three weeks now. And many of these people have been at AZ for a long time. The rats are beginning to eat their young.

AZ reminds me of the movie "Heartbreak Ridge" where you have a Major that came from supply to run a combat outfit trying to dictate his ill on a wily old gunnery sergeant with the sergeant having nothing to do with it. All the brand dipwads coming into the field as CBD's or above thinking they know how sales work yet never managed a sales team and in many instances, never were a rep. Sales forces just roll their eyes. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.

Where have all the real leaders gone? I don't even recognize this company any longer. Every meeting is like starting over again with an all new cast of 30 something pretenders who look good and sound good on stage but have absolutely nothing to say of value. Scripted babble and academic double speak.

beginning to eat their young? ! been going on for awhile. total disarray and that says a lot for this dysfunctional group. I just keep doing my thing in the field hoping to hang on for a little while longer.

It is impossible to eliminate ignorance when you embrace arrogance. That is the best way to define leadership and the brand teams at AZ.
 




News break- Pharma is not a sales position. If you think you are selling something, your ego is larger than the corruption.
Unfortunately, too many of the managers have never been outside of the pharma environment to have experienced what it is really like to sell. They think back to the days when they were reps, without restrictions and could "create access", not realizing that it was the dinners with their spouses and tickets to events that did a great deal of the "selling".
 




This is like the 3rd or 4th model in a row that completely ignores factors related to the customer environment and what is going on in their business and instead focuses on us getting in our two cents worth of pharma dribble spit puke. Vomit and comet out of there on to the next call. This is coaching today and it will get worse and worse since customers actually are beginning to resent us. Imagine if we could not deliver lunch under the guise of delivering samples? If samples could ALL be ordered online via an APP. We'd be toast. It is why Pharma Asso still fights for signing for samples.
 








The job is a joke. Management has no clue and simply goes through the motions. Its sad that many work to earn an honest paycheck but the sad truth is you do nothing, you simply exist. I have been gone for over a year and have never been happier.
