Bob Baltera

He learned from the "best" - Bob Attiyeh, ex-CFO, ex-McKinsey consultant... Know a little about a lot of things... ask a lot of "thoughtful" questions... come off as knowledgeable based on those "thoughtful" questions... actually quite intelligent to work that way.

be nice you might be applying for a job there soon.

I'm not one of the previous posters, but I did interview there a couple of years ago, shortly after taking the VTP at Amgen. Bob and I knew each other from working on cross-functional teams. Enough for him to know I am a hard worker and know what I'm doing but not enough for me to be on his radar. I interviewed with him and most of the management team. Seemed like an okay place to work. They had just partnered with Novo a few months earlier.

The interviews went really well till I met with the CFO and she asked how much I expected to make. I told her what I was making at Amgen plus what I usually got for VEP and stock. I'm not management so it wasn't an unrealistic number, pretty much the industry standard for my position, education and experience level. I thought she was going to choke on her Starbucks. Apparently I should have been grateful to make 50% of my Amgen salary. (I did say that I expected a startup to pay somewhat less than Amgen). Anyway, got the kiss off email very quickly, in fact I think they sent it while I was driving back to the hotel. I don't hold it against them - they had their price and I had mine. I would have compromised somewhat, but not as much as they wanted me to. I don't regret my decision, I love being retired.

As I said, this was a couple of years ago, so maybe they've improved their salaries since then. D. Fenton is on the BoD now, FWIW.

you guys are the clowns. are you jealous because he is running a company and you're not.

He may be funny looking but he just sold Amira to Bristol-Myers Squibb for $325 million.

What have YOU done lately?

Bob, I know this is you replying to these posts. Stop trying to convince people that you sold Amira. The science and scientists sold Amira! You know it and I know it. Ask anyone from BMS who Bob Baltera is......no one will know the answer.

Totally wrong. You have no insight into what happened. Yes Pepi and the team deserve credit too, but Bob played an important role in making this happen. Just wait to see what comes next for Bob and you will see that the investors appreciate his contribution.

Bob, go ahead and enlighten us with what you contribution was. Sitting in you office with the door closed doesn't count big boy. Don't get confused with what you do next as a validation of you contribution to Amira's success. How many companies did you contact and get to sit at the table to discuss the programs with. Let me remind you zero.

seriously, you have nothing better to do than to worry about what Bob Baltera did or did not do. I know one thing he did, get out of Amgen. and seriously, I have nothing better to do than to comment on insipid posts on cafepharma.

Best thing that could have happened to Amgen would have been for Bob to have been made CEO. The only thing that happened to Amira under his leadership --- successful exit for his investors. How well have Amgen investors done the past 10 years? Amgen CEO sure has done well. Shareholders are suckers.

Look who is not the CEO of Amira's spinout any longer. wow bob that lasted a grand total of 1 month. a real vote of confidence from the panmira board.

Idiot. Don't have a clue. Amira was hugely successful under Baltera.
