Biopharm: Two VP of Sales for a total of 35 reps ?

Biopharm and Market Access need trimming big time. There are 4 VPs plus Doug in Market Access. And way too many AEs who really have nothing to do all day. Doesn't anyone get that employers follow their PBM. Most of the regional payors like the Blues see the regional AE once per year. Why are we wasting so much $ on the AEs and the top heavy leadership? Makes zero business sense. Doug's model should be a Harvard Business Review on what NOT to do.

Doug had very little experience and none in speciality markets. It's not his fault he failed...in over his head. Biopharm performed very well up until 2016 under another VP that Jesper had fired. Another great Jesper decision. Just goes to show how much devastation can happen when one leader makes such bad decisions. Now we're all screwed.

You don't get it, do you? When profits are fat, the more regional managers and VPs someone has underneath them, the more "important" they are to the organization. (And on a personal note, the more attractive their CV appears to Sanofi or Novartis when they get let go from here.)

I wouldbt be surprised that as we speak, senior level directors and ET members are fighting over every.single.one. of "their people".

I foresee a shuffling of the deck, just so that the new guy can prove that he's done something. Snip-snip here, snip there, and then wait a year to see if the new Basaglar formularies have a negative impact on Tresiba numbers and the Xultophy launch. If Victoza growth slows, or the two newest products fail to meet expectations by the end of next year? Get your family ready for a big decrease in income, cuz we'll be cutting down.

Where I used to work, we called it "Empire building".... The higher up on the Org Chart that your name appeared (everyone below your name on the chart was in your "empire") the perception was you were more important to the entire organization. Not to mention it over inflated more than just a few egos too.

Of course they're fighting over their people! The fight is about who among their people stays and who goes. If "your guy" doesn't fight hard enough for you, or his opponent makes a stronger case for "his guy", then you lose and are probably history.
