Biogenentech

You clowns have no relationships in the MS market. The COEs don't want some newbie to MS calling on them. They want a seasoned pro who they have a long history with. This is fact sorry to tell you.

This is for sure MJ and his cronies who think that they are the GODS of MS.
What an EFFFING joke. This MS division could be filled with some talent - selective, but
this should not become BIOGEN West.

Agree with other posters- selling is selling, good people figure it out

Here is where you messed up...Novartis is NOT respected in the MS market. And look to Novartis' misstep...they have a great product but can't climb passed a 9% national share because they hired no one with MS experience!

WRONG! Go to Australia and Japan, where Gilenya kick Biogen's ass.
Check out the market share in those 2 markets- Gilenya crushed Tysabri and Avonex

Novartis mistake was pricing, they figured out what the limit people would pay.
Simple as that-

And even if this were true, who cares! The US market is where you make your revenue. Those markets aren't doing anything to your bottom line since you are giving it away.
Pricing has nothing to do with it! Novartis has the ability to offer discounts across a number of drug classes and they do it well. Biogen loses here because they are arrogant and never negotiate.
Bottom line, they did not know the market, they continue to ignore what the MS specialist ask of them (provide real proven safety data-they don't) and have too much turnover in their field sales that no one gets a real hold of what's going on. Gilenya is a great drug. Owned and marketed by someone else, it's market share would be closer to 30%.

Actually it is true, and if you look at the EU, which is the same size as the US market, the same remains true. You have only sold in one territory, never been a national or global person.
There is something called global brand and the KOLs do talk.

Biogen has had a good run, but not because of the people, the products were good.
Now MS is getting to be filled with many competitors and they will have competition.

The real story here is if we hire all these Biogen folks they cannot sell competitively.

If you talk to some folks at Biogen about MJ you will get some very interesting responses.
This guy was passed over for more than a few roles. He got what he wanted eventually from us, but only because we don't know sh#t about MS, and we now worship a guy who is a lone wolf and not one that will blend well with our culture!

He will be gone in 2 years

Genentech needs to do the right thing and hire more people internally; there are many successful franchises that would be an invaluable asset to the MS team; split should be
70% - 80 % internal and 20% external. That would be the ideal mix.

Best of luck MS team!

Agreed though it is reported that the NSD who came from Biogen is firm on 60/40 external/internal

Listen here, all MS reps, TLL's and MSL's are retread job hoppers. I even know a guy who wore the wrong name badge into an office, he had a stack of badges in his bag. These job hoppers are wannabe dot comers always jumping ship to the next greatest thing. Gene is aware of this and will pay the big bucks up front knowing many of these fools will hop along in a year or two for the next molecule.

who is this MJ, how will he hire? is he an ass or a good guy to work for? does he know the genentech culture or just spout bs

He is a very aloof, condescending guy who acts like he is the only one who knows MS.
He will hire his "friends" or people in his own image.
After a certain period of time he will grow old as he did at Biogen.
He got what he wanted at Genentech that he did not get at Biogen.
There were many reasons why he did not get those things at Buyogen

Sounds like the MS team will be a great place to be

Please elaborate on "people in his own image".
